Imagine an update where we got to decorate another deserted island!

I'm talking about one which is your own and you can always go back to, and that you can even visit during dreams or as a group during multiplayer. How would everyone react if something like that was announced?

Personally there are several themes I'd love to have on my current island but there's no room for them or it just wouldn't make sense with my current theme. Like a desert or a big lake or a treasure island or a haunted ancient land.

It would probably be smaller than our current one and we wouldn't be able to place villager homes on it, but still be able to be decorate it however we want. Maybe we could also place a campsite for an extra chance to meet a new neighbour.

Or maybe there could be several and they could be seasonal if you want that kind of environment?

Also there could be one owned by Tortimer where we can play minigames 😉

To me this sounds a bit too good to be true and I'm not sure if it would take up too much space for Nintendo to implement. But if they did, what kind of islands would you make? Would you want this option at all or do you think it would be detrimental? I think it would fit nicely with the whole island theme of the game and would also give us more opportunities to be creative and use our furniture instead of keeping it in storage. And it would provide some more use to the pier by giving it a boat!

Pretty sure this idea would sit very well with a lot of players!

For me, though, I'd have to give it a pass.

My main concern would be time. I don't have enough of it for decorating another island even if it was a smaller one. AC is not the only game or hobby I have and there are only 24 hours in a day. 😭

Additionally, decorating an island is not the main attraction for me when playing AC. I play the game to interact with my villagers. The experience (even though it's repetitive) of being able to talk to the animals, give them fruit or furniture, take screenshots of them, etc is one that makes me happy. It's why I play the game every day. If AC did not have the animals, I'd probably not play. Terraforming, I feel, has opened up so many possibilities, that there isn't a need for another island. One can change how one's island looks at any stage of the game, at no cost other than the effort and time it requires.

I'm probably in the minority with this view. 😑

In NewLeaf you could decorate your private CT island. It took me a long time, but I brought rare flowers and roses over there. You could wear them in your hair/mouth on the visit and then unequip and plant them. I made this little flower garden with the island hibiscus making like this plus sign pattern where you could enter from four sides. Like a 4way road stop.

So I would really love to have a smaller private island.

I'd love one as either a differently themed place (as if my island will have anything close to a coherent theme lol) or flower breeding/orchard area. Flowers take up so much space and my current orchard is very tiny. If the vegetable growing data turns out to be a real update, I could make a separate little farm.

Maybe not a huge deserted island but I'd love a mini island with some "NPC shops" we get to decorate happy home designer style: pick the exterior, design the interior, and interact with the NPC after our progress saves. It would be cute to see random villagers walkin around and shopping once the facility buildings are finished. I just love the little town area in HHD and I was really hoping that some aspects of that game would make it into ACNH (besides the furniture moving interface that we're all used to now). It would be a nice way to keep NPCs that didn't make it into the actual game or even those who only appear as seasonal guests. Eg. design a fishing/bait shop for Chip, a workshop for Cyrus, or a restaurant for Franklin, etc. That's just me dreamin' though. I don't think anything major would be added to the game other than the types of updates we're used to (and hopefully another big furniture update).

this would be super cool!!! Would love it if I was able to store my extra flowers here and maybe... have it be the opposite hemisphere from my current island!

Yessss. I was considering buying a second Switch so I could do this. But I wish we didn't have to and could just start another save file for a new island.

Mostly I'd just want room for extra patterns... and maybe the ability to play multiple copies of the game on a single Switch.

I mean in an ideal world I would love to have the option to have a whole system of islands we could theme, name and even have separate communities for, having villagers be able to travel between them occasionally, and the like... I guess I imagine it sort of like The Sims 4 and its worlds system. That would be my ideal, even if we had the compromise of having your original island as the 'main island' and having some sort of limitations for the 'sub islands'. Honestly I kind of think about this a lot haha

I’ve barely decorated my own island lol

this would be rad but i don’t think i’d be down for it if it also couldn’t house an additional villager or two; there’s so many that i love and so, if i just want to decorate something without a villager home, i’ll just work on a room or something aha

Ahhh no I hope not. Or I hope it could be optional. Like having the option to purchase a new island with bells or something. I can barely keep up with my current island, so I would feel very overwhelmed if given a second.

I'd make a haunted island
Ooh i want this to happen agh

I'l really like to have another (or multiple) smaller island(s) with a few villagers. There are some themes I have in mind that I can't do on my own island. I think it would also be nice for siblings that have to share an island (that way they can get their 'own' space).
