If you have multiple players, how do you organise your storage?

I have two extra character and it's pretty random. I know that one of them has most of the fish and bug models and a bunch of the gulliver hats. The other character is holding onto extra furniture that I don't care about and nook mile tickets.
I really should organize them but I have not played as either of those characters for a long time so it doesn't really matter in the long run.

I have 3 characters (including my main). My main's storage only consists of clothing/accessories. My secondary has excess furniture and all the unorderables and holiday items, bugs and fish for models, villager photos, and holds all my rare/seasonal extra DIYs (wreaths/crowns and mermaid, etc). The third has all my extra materials and gardening things (bush starts, saplings, flower seeds, pumpkin seeds etc) and holds all my extra common DIYs. I plan on having a full 8 players eventually. I'm thinking some will carry all shoes, another all outfits, etc. But that won't be till a lot later in my islands lifetime.
island rep
pretty much everything gets thrown into my island rep’s storage and so, it’s almost always at its full capacity; this is where i put all my furniture, clothing, wallpapers and floorings, materials, critters that i want to sell or get turned into models, the majority of my poster collection, misc items, etc. i likely won’t ever use most of what i have but i’m apparently a hoarder so,, 24/7 full storage babeyyyy
side character #1
my side characters’ storages don’t get used for much and i’m only planning on keeping one of them so things will have to get moved around at some point but currently, this one’s storage has items that i might use for her interior, the rest of my poster collection, fake artwork so that i don’t get them mixed up with the genuine ones in my storage and all of my spare diys.

i’m not planning on keeping this character but right now, her storage is only being used to store items in case i ever have a second island and so, she’s got some spare genuine artwork, random furniture, etc

I've already used up all 8 of my characters slots, though I only tend to play as 1 or 2 of them at a time. I created them mostly because there weren't a lot of buildings and my Island was looking bare bones, especially my city area. 
I figured, along the way, that I could also use them as extra storage space, once I started collecting more clothing and items because I'm a filthy hoarder and I started running out of space.
At the time of writing this:
•Character 1 stores favorite clothing and a few important crafting materials I usually always use up
Character 2 collects villager photos and villager posters
Character 3 collects crafting materials 5 stacks of each in case I ever need it
Character 4 is collecting all wallpapers, flooring and fish/bug models
Character 5 is collecting furniture I craft with my MC
Character 6 is collecting bugs and fish to give to Flick/CJ for models
Character 7 is collecting any extras
Character (I haven't decided yet, but probably more non orderable items)

yeah patterns are shared. i thought they weren't until i made a second character, it's really annoying tbhI've just recently made a second character and was shocked that after deleting my stored patterns from her character, it also erased mine!

I made a second character to help me redo most of my island, and filled their storage with items from locations that I wanted to move. For example, I wanted to move one of my neighborhoods to the back of my island, but in order to do so I had to clear out the exsisting restaurant that was in the way. Since my first character's storage was full (and my island didn't have a lot of free space to drop stuff on the ground), my second character cleaned up both locations and easily moved the neighborhood to its new location. I haven't found a place for the restaurant yet, so that cluster of furniture is sitting in my second character's storage.
So I mainly use my second character to shuffle things around on my island rather than another storage area like my first character's storage. IF I do have to store random furniture pieces in on second character, then I will place these things out in my second character's house so when I am decorating with my first character, I can enter the house and easily see what individual furniture piecesI have stored there.
