I might start a Steam Group for generally gaming purposes. The current TBT Forums Game Group on Steam is more or less dead. :/

Multiplayer nights for games like, but not limited to:

  • Team Fortress 2
  • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
  • Battleblock Theater
  • Castle Crashers
  • Hammerwatch
  • Just Cause 2
  • Terraria
  • Starbound
  • Edge of Space
  • Civilization V
  • DOTA 2

Would anyone else be interested in such a venture? My Steam Profile can be found in my signature, and if enough people are interested, I'll start a group and link it there as well.

We can do weekly, nightly, bi-weekly game nights, whatever people would prefer, and we'd all vote on a game or whatever. All that will be covered later! Might include prizes, dunno yet. I just hate that the current TBT Steam Group is dead, and would love to have more people to game with!

Yeah, of course, that's why I put the phrase "but not limited to". :P
I just listed what I could think of off the top of my head at the time.

And yeah, Time Zones could be an issue, but we could have "officers" who could organize events for other time zones.

I know :P

Yeah, or we could could just start at diff times of the day or something. Think it's gonna be a bit limited either way.

I would definitely be interested in playing Civ 5, but I guess it's a harder one to coordinate! My timezone is GMT usually (GMT+1 currently as I am staying in Sweden right now).

I would be up for some Civ 5 if people get the complete pack with the expansions - It's much more enjoyable with those. It's currently on Steam Sale as well so not that expensive if you're quick to get it. Would probably work best with the Free For All gamemode so people can drop out if they get eliminated or have to leave, and with simultaneous turns and turn-timers enabled for a quick and smooth (but also very competitive) game.

I have Civ V, but only the base game and the 2 expansions...nothing else.

Got the base game for free from the Golden Joysticks Awards, and the 2 expansions from Greenmangaming a few days ago. Not really experienced with Civilization games, but it's a game I definitely want to get into a bit more. From what I played of Civ V though it's a bit overwhelming xD

If we can at least get a few more people interested in this venture (the group), I can go ahead and put it together and send out invites.

Base Game + Gods and Kings + Brave New World is all you need. The other DLC's are just fluff, like extra teams and scenario map packs, and the other players who might own some of these can actually use those in a game that you join as well - And I wouldn't really consider it an unfair advantage either, because few of them are particularly good. (At least not any better than the ones you would be able to select yourself!)

It's a rough and challenging game but it's very rewarding when you play well, and when you engage in it online you can make temporary alliances and devious betrayals and all that kind of stuff. Pretty amusing. Very dramatic!

I'm up for some Saxton Hale mode with the forum.

Saxton Hale is my favorite mode. Although I can only play games when I have my computer.

I'll be on board if you actually manage to get people into this.

I don't see the point of making a new one. If you'd like to revive it, use the current one. Get enough support and maybe you can have admin privileges to update it.

That works as well. I was just so excited when I found a Steam group! Theres so many great games on Steam, and so many awesome people here, it'd be a shame for the group to just roll over and die. I'd really love to be able to revitalize it.

So let's get things organized - Shall we all join the old group then, and perhaps set up a date and time for the Civilization 5 game? There does seem to be quite a few people interested already. We need between 4 and 8 people to play a round - More is welcome but not necessary - And it is best if we can land on an even number if possible. As for the time-slot: Early evening for Americans so that it's late evening for Europeans might work best, but we can discuss that further!

People who mentioned that they want to play Civ 5 so far are:
Feloreena.
Sataric.
Adol the Red.
Jun.
And possibly others!

I could probably play too.

That is good - Once we have decided on a day and time, we could perhaps make a topic specifically related to the Civ 5 Event on the primary gaming board rather than the sub-section, since it might be a bit easier to get people to sign up that way.

I would be interested in being a part of this :D
I only have a couple of the games mentioned but I'm usually looking for recommendations and the like.
Luckily enough I just finished all of my Uni work until September anyway :P
