Ice cream discussion thread

My favourite flavours are: strawberry, chocolate (but not too rich), cookies and cream, pistachio, raspberry ripple, vanilla, clotted cream, salted caramel and honeycomb. I absolutely adore pistachio magnums :3 Also while I was in the Lake District I must have had at least a dozen chocolate dipped 99s/Mr Whippys, they were heavenly...

Heh.

I use to have a bowl of ice cream every night before bed, but over the years I haven't had much interest in it. I will say that one of the bests things for me is freezing peanuts and layering them with hot fudge and caramel. A parfait I use to love consisted of pineapple, marshmallow, dry coconut and pecans. I'm pretty sure I could explain every combination I've tried, but I think those were the two I made the most.

my favorite flavor of ice cream is coffee (Haagen Dazs) - I could eat this everyday & I also love Chocolate. I also enjoy getting a vanilla soft serve cone dipped in butterscotch

for weird toppings, I've had chocolate ice cream drizzled with Spanish olive oil & a pinch of sea salt - it's actually pretty good

I swear Haagen Dazs can do no wrong. Lol.

Spanish olive oil and sea salt sounds interesting. I feel like looking that up now.

I really like Strawberry ice cream. Although Ben and Jerries Cookie Dough ice cream is the best, really nice!

The best ice cream ever is at this little restaurant in this tiny town in Montana. They make it there with an ice cream maker and use real vanilla bean and it is amazing. The texture is so good and so unlike any other ice cream I have had anywhere. It's super creamy. The only down side is that now all other ice cream now seems inferior to me texture-wise. I did try making it myself in an ice cream maker and it was similar but still not as good. Maybe I need more experience using an ice cream maker.

I only eat ice cream when I go to restaurants but I love green tea ice cream. I will never turn it down if I spot it in a restaurant. :)

Anyone ever heard of the Golden Opulence Sundae? It costs $1k and you have to order it 48 hours in advance cause they have to collect everything to make it. It's got some crazy ingredients in it, but hey it's pretty to look at.

you can pretty much use any good olive oil (just nothing like Bertolli), kosher salt works too

ah I saw this on food network before. it's from serendipity if I remember correctly. I wouldn't mind trying it (if I
wasn't buying lol!)
