I was invited at a Nintendo event today and I had my Villager amiibo on me. I was using the editing tools when I thought about using my amiibo with the Super Mario Maker demo I was playing with. After all we have seen the Link, Wii Fit Trainer, Marth, Isabelle, Yoshi and Bowser costumes in different videos since E3, but not the Villager amiibo.

Unfortunately, when I scanned my amiibo, it told me that this amiibo was not in use with this software. Not that it means the Villager amiibo won't be in use in Super Mario Maker, but that the demo lacked the ability to unlock that particular amiibo.

Well guys, I tried ;)

Aww man, that's unfortunate. If this does in fact mean Villager can't be scanned in this game, that is going to suck and make a lot of Animal Crossing fans mad. :/

You already have Isabelle be thankful for what you've got

It's obvious it just means that the demo build doesn't have support for it. I am certain the final game will.

Oh, we already know that Super Mario Maker supports all amiibo figurines : the Super Smash Bros. ones, the Super Mario ones, the Splatoon ones, the Animal Crossing ones, just not the Animal Crossing amiibo cards.

Let me say this, there is nothing more satisfying than making a Super Mario Maker course and then letting someone else play it. I had a lot of fun. BTW, those Yarn Yoshi amiibo are quite small, smaller than I thought.

I'm joining this montage of various videos I shot while I was at the event today.

Before you ask : nope, Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival or Animal crossing: Happy Home Designer or the amiibo cards/figurines of the Animal Crossing serie were nowhere to be found at the press event.

There are a few other Super Mario Maker courses I filmed.

The first one is called Ninja Training

The second one is one I had heavily edited and asked a Nintendo representative to try. She was baffled by the added difficulty.

All 3 of those videos look great, Boccages! Thanks for getting us the inside coverage! :D

Oh, BTW. I also went to the Nintendo spokesperson on hand and asked her for informations on Animal Crossing amiibo cards (I asked her whether they were made out of plastic or cardboard). She said she hadn't seen them yet but she would give me the info as soon as she gets her hands on them.

Awesome. Glad to hear that. :)
