I was shocked at the taller characters. I was like "OMG HOW COULD NINTENDO DO THIS AOFHSANFASG A " but now I love the taller frames. <3

Really? I was so excited to not have to see a squashed character on my screen .-.

Haha me too. XD It took a while to get used to, but after a few days of playing it I found that I really liked how the characters were taller.

I liked the look of the taller characters right away, but I didn't realize how silly looking the old design was until after playing a lot of New Leaf

I don't think I would have gone for another Wild World/City Folk clone.

ACNL is my first AC game but compared to the screenshots I saw of the others, I think it looks a ton better in terms of character design.

I also didn't like the taller characters, when I first saw them my reaction was: "Ughhh, what is this?!" But I got excited because of the new possibilities and after a few hours of playing I already loved the new design. When I wanted to show my mother what the game is about I was like: "You can try out AC Wild World! It's almost the same, there are just fewer details!"... But after starting my old DS Lite with Wild World I almost passed out. My memories were obviously romanticized. A lot.
