My biggest problem is that I don't like taking time away from one project until the other is finished. I tried having two towns in New Leaf, but I hated deviating from my first town until it was 'finished' in a sense.

Plus, I got really attached to my first town, and now my island. I wouldn't have any attached to a second island if I had the funds to get one!

Lol I'm not saying you can't use your money how you want? No need to get weirdly defensive about it.

:lemon: your original post just seemed very impassioned about someone else's so-called "senseless materialism," no need to accuse me of being defensive. hope your day is going well!

I thought I was out of ideas and inspiration with my first island, so I spent extra money I really shouldn't have spent on a second Switch. But now, I'm finding more and more stuff I want to do on my main island and less things I want to do on my second island. I've thought about selling my second Switch, but I think I should keep it as a spare in case anything happens to my first Switch.

But other than that, I can't think of any other reason to justify owning a second Switch. Simply put, I'm not feeling too inspired with this second island. Have you guys started a second island and soon got tired of it?

Suggestion: For the time being, you may want to use a second island to not develop it but to use it for a separate airport color (from your first island) so you can get certain colors of exterior furniture (you can’t get on your first island). You may also want to use a character or two, from Island #02, to build up Nook Miles and purchase Nook Miles Tickets. You can play it out for a while. Afterward, reset it. In the meantime, more of your time in further island development can continue with Island #01. Eventually, you will come up with a second island that you will be pleased to develop.

I'm too broke for a second island. I can't justify buying another switch just for animal crossing. It definitely would be nice to be able to have a second island though

I only have 1 island, I wouldn't have the creativity to have a second island be fulfilling enough. And could never justify buying a second switch.

I don't have a second island. It's not only the fact I don't have a second Switch and would need to spend money to buy one, it's because I already have my hands full with my only island and I have no real desire to have a second island, lol

ohh i remember when new horizons was released and i spent a solid month agonizing whether i should buy a second island or not haha. i'm very sorry that you regret the purchase and that you put a sticker on the back of it, but just remember how many perks there are with a second island!

originally i was going to have one time-travelling island and one 100% zero time-travelling island, so depending on your main island, maybe do the opposite for the second? if you have amiibo cards, your second switch can be a cycling island to trade and better chance to get your dreamies without sacrificing your current villagers, or have TWO islands with your top 20 favorites! (you can reset your second switch over and over for infinite raymonds from that guaranteed smug movein) if i gave into the temptation of buying that second switch, i would have my second island as a cutesy pink and pastel island with all the cute villagers as my main island is more a dark witchy/gothic themed and i'd rather not mix such contrast of aesthetics.

I think I would only end up getting a second island if the Switch Pro became a real thing and I liked it better than my switch. I don't think Nintendo thought of people upgrading and transferring islands between switches because of that. So, I would more than likely have to start over then.

I just realized another positive to having a second island! With the introduction of farming, I can test it out on the second island, whose theme is more rustic to begin with while my main island simply does not have the space.

Then again, I'm not too excited about farming in Animal Crossing. 😥

I can relate. I started my second island mid-May and stopped playing it sometime in June. I've no regrets because it didn't cost me any additional money. I'll probably end up playing it someday.

I don't have a second island and don't intend to. Spending so much money on another Switch and then another $60 on top of it for another copy of New Horizons is not something I'm interested in doing.

The concept does, admittedly, hold some appeal because I'm a Pokémon player and it simplifies matters to be able to trade with oneself for things like trade evolution and not need to bother someone else for help. There are also animals in Animal Crossing who I've never had that I'd like to experience, and with all of the neat Halloween additions to New Horizons, it almost makes me want to make a Halloween island, but neither is sufficient reason.

I am someone who did have multiple New Leaf towns (4 currently, though I did buy myself a 5th copy I never started yet last Christmas) because I kept thinking of different themes to base towns around. I found this more reasonable then because 3DS games are $30 less than Switch cartridges, and as the years progressed, New Leaf itself bumped down in price to only $19. New Horizons is a fun game, but I'd rather put all that money elsewhere.

ahhhh i would never be able to afford a second switch due to being a broke college student however i wish I had a second island

my main island is about cute and cozy vibes but i always wanted to make a denomic, horror island where the island rep is a dark mage. the villagers will be all dark and mysterious too...

haha, only one can dream

i dont have a second island but it would be nice to have another one. i could use it for different item variations, villager holding/trading, a place to breed flowers. i could even try out terraforming ideas im too scared to do on my main island. i dont think id ever go out of my way to save up and buy a second switch just for animal crossing, though. as other people have said just having one island is already enough lol. there's a lot of themes id like to try out but at the end of the day im fine with just my one switch and save. i still wish that u could choose whether u wanted a switch profile to add a character to ur current acnh save file or let the profile make their own save file smh

If I had a second Switch and copy of ACNH I'd probably end up resetting every week so I could enjoy the nostalgic fun of the first couple days, the mystery island tours, the initial quests, the OG non-hourly music, etc. Yes, I am aware that it's crazy to be nostalgic for something that I first encountered all of six months ago, but still.

I got this game only 3 months ago and the other day I felt super nostalgic when I heard the morning music, which I hadn't heard since the early days! It's amazing how fast nostalgia can kick in.
