I understand nintendo wants to keep us entertained for a long time with acnh, but there are fundamental aspects of the game they withheld from launch that are going to cause problems down the line (even as soon as now). for instance, adding shops down the line when many people have already laid our their island plans is going to be disastrous.
leaving out characters from the game makes no sense (the pelicans and brewster for example), and aspects of the game which were added in previous games only to be taken out in acnh, such as diving and underwater creatures to catch.
as much as I love and appreciate acnh, nintendo had years to develop this game, and it seems so lacking. even dialogue and personality differences in villagers is so bland. i mean how hard is it to write more than three lines of dialogue for one personality type?
sorry, i don't mean to rant, but I feel the ac burnout coming and I’m just frustrated because if this game had the same fundamental aspects that acnl had, I wouldn’t feel this way.
we don’t even have half the furniture options as previous games. I see the same 15 items on rotation in the nooks shop because there’s like 5 furniture sets. like how do you make pocket camp, a phone game, have more options than your actual $60 switch game?
my villagers say the same thing over and over and get mad when I talk to them more than twice a day, I cant visit brewster and make coffee for my villagers, I can't go diving, and visiting mystery islands is a waste of time if you’re not villager hunting. if they had done something with the mystery islands like in acnl with a gift shop and diving, that would be amazing. at least I’d have a reason to go?
anyway sorry that was so long :')

i entirely agree with how you say they've had years to develop this game, and it IS lacking in critical areas. while i enjoy ACNH, of course, i need more content in order to draw me in. yesterday i got excited when lolly asked to do a treasure hunt with me, but got disappointed when it took me 10 seconds to find the treasure. personality types are lacking in dialogues, to the point where i can't speak to my 3 lazy villagers without losing my mind, and while the little pop-up shops are cute, i want their full shops back!!! and another random dislike about this game.. we need markers for those visiting the island (i.e celeste, flick, CJ, etc) because i can't keep track of how many times i've missed getting a DIY or a model because i missed them on my island.

I totally agree. It seems like Nintendo goes backwards rather than forwards. They're always messing stuff up. For example, Mario Party. The one that came out on the Wii U was atrocious... then they finally come out with online multiplayer Mario Party and it's limited to a few mini games and you can't even play on the board. I dunno why, but Nintendo always drops the ball. They would make sooooo much more money if they'd listen to what people want/ask for instead of removing things or doing them half-assed.

For the last bit, if you spam a villager a few times they eventually say who is visiting your island! That's how I always find out, anyway.

I agree with you that the game is generally lacking a lot of content and that a lot of the mechanics of NL should have been included or enhanced in NH, not totally cut out. My only hope is that they continue to add content as time goes on, similarly to how Pocket Camp has gotten a lot of content over time, albeit VERY gradually.

That isn't to say I don't think a $60 game should already be on the level, or far beyond the level, of a mobile app. It should've been when it was released, and I wholeheartedly agree with you on that and how unfair it is that NH is so lacking compared to PC, which is on a much smaller scale. I just can't help but think that the reason why it's so bare-bones now is because there's more to come... maybe they couldn't implement all that they had planned and want to add it later down the road. It's... probably, almost definitely wishful thinking on my part, but it's also one of my main motivations to keep on playing before I, inevitably, experience burnout. :')

i agree with this so much. this game just feels so so incomplete, and it saddens me so much. i expected so much more content, especially because of how long there was to develop it. after all that time we spent waiting on this game, it feels as if we were given nothing. if they're going to add new buildings, i'm going to be sad considering how so many people have worked SO hard on their islands and have completed them, and for what? to have to change what they've done just to accommodate to those buildings?

i understand what they're TRYING to do, by giving us content gradually with updates, but it makes what we have right now feel like nothing. i feel like i have nothing to do besides terraform, and while i do enjoy the addition of terraforming, i want more stuff to do! it sucks so much that after waiting years for this game, i'm burnt out in 2 months.

I agree with everything said in this thread. NH was almost too easy to complete the main objective and not warning us about future shops/buildings is super messed up (thankfully my island is nowhere near complete and I've already taken those new buildings into consideration but for those who haven't...)

Anyways, I'm not a fan of the pop-up shops I just want the NPC's to be here permanently. Removing Brewster made no sense to begin with. I don't like how the dodo bros replaced the pelicans (at least leave them in charge of our mail!!!) and I miss Katrina, Tortimer, Kapp'n, and gang :'(

The quality of life flubs are kind of inexcusable tbh like the obnoxious dialogue repeating (Blathers reminds me there's another stamp rally with the same prize-- and then you have to talk to him AGAIN just to get something assessed/donate). Mystery islands are basically useless after a certain point in the game (unless you need dreamies). Idk, I'm willing to accept the plainer dialogue as long as they flesh out everything else. Make terraforming easier, that **** is not streamlined at all.

To avoid making this ACNH Rant Thread 2: Electric Boogaloo, while I understand what they're trying to do by releasing updates slowly, I definitely think it's weird they launched it with features missing that even Wild World (as well as every other AC game) had. For Brewster and the gyroids specifically, they seem to be planning some sort of event introducing them, because there's no other good reason I can think of to not include them at launch. Same with diving. Those two are no-brainers for AC at this point, so they really must think their event is worth the wait for us. And it may well not be.
I also don't have an explanation for things like why we can't sit on rocks, why stumps don't have patterns, why shells only ever display as what they are in your pockets, why you can't scoot between things placed a half-unit apart like in HHD, etc. It makes me wonder if the NL team and the NH team are not the same?

Now while I'm of the mind people could stand to be a little more patient with things like this, I do agree with you on how frustrating it is when a new shop or smth rolls out that you have to find a way to incorporate it into your meticulously decorated and organized island you spent hundreds of hours getting just right. While for me it's fine to just not try to completely deck out my island because I know stuff will be coming, people who are new to AC or people who want a perfect island asap are gonna get burned every time.

yeah people have said my feelings on this already. and me too, on other threads. so to keep things short, they basically went overboard with slow roll outs. i mean, at least tell us what's coming or tease it. not making us wait and make assumptions on EVERYTHING. it's not helping or making things more exciting, they HAVE to sell it to us. especially, some are still on lockdown, people invest or have plenty of free time to play. i have friends who were so excited initially to play the game, but haven't been playing recently because there's not really much left to do or discover. redd doesn't even come anymore, i'm getting the same NPC's. like how did we go from having 8-9 buildings on mainstreet (that's a lot to do already when you open the game in the morning!) to this??? like someone said, it's like we went backwards not forward.

even us comparing it to pocket camp, i find kind of ridiculous. it's a FREE mobile game. although, it really is the case--that we'll have to wait for updates, i wish it's not all like this all the time. we get periods of time where the game is really boring and we're just like 3 months in. sorry someone had to say it.
