I have free room, camper won't move in? Please help!

I see a villager I'd like in my camp. I absolutely know I have free room, I just gave my friend his dreamie the previous in-game day (so now I have 9). So I'm now excited I get to invite this villager!

So he suggests he should move in, and I accept...
until he changed his mind... This has happened twice. I tried restarting (ending without saving) and trying again with no luck. It was something along the lines of "Hmm, something about this town is calling to me." *You should move in!* "Nah, I don't think I'm ready to leave my current town. Thanks though!"

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Persistence! They will eventually give in. I had the same trouble with Cookie when I found her in my campsite awhile back. The option would come up, but she kept repeatedly refusing.

Eventually, I got her to suggest a game and she said if I won, she would come to my town. I did happen to win and that was that.

But yeah, it's not hopeless! As long as you have the room, just keep pressing them. However, after you get to the point that they refused, walk out of the tent and then walk back in. I kept just trying to talk to her in the tent over and over without leaving and I think that's part of why it took me so long.

I had this happen with one of the wolves (I think it was Wolfgang) who was staying at my campsite at the time. I didn't press on enough so I missed my chance to get him. Now I have Graham after a lot of talking with him. Just keep trying! Like everyone said, they will give in eventually.
