Exactly. But it is good because he can go to the Regigigas event next month and transfer it to Platinum.

I recently sold my Diamond but I'm buying Pearl tomorrow so I can go to the event and get some Pokemon to transfer over to Platinum.

You can get those in Platinum if you get the Regigigas from the Toys R Us event coming in March. You just need to have Regigigas in your party at times. You can't get the three Reig's any other way. Even if you caught a Regigigas without the event, you still can't catch the three regis. You NEED the event Regigigas in order to get the regi's. (To many regi's in that paragraph. ._.)
