I don't want to play NL anymore!!

I am soo pissed right now!!! I got tired of playing Stardew and decided to work on my New Leaf town and at first I couldn't find my 2DS and was freaking out. Turns out my friend 'Borrowed' it a couple days ago and my New Leaf was on the SD card in the system...well she ended up dropping it into a pond in her backyard by accident and ruined the whole system...why do i even have friends as this point?

Needless to say, I have no town anymore and I am debating on never playing my physical copy ever again.

Anyway just needed to rant.

I'm sorry to hear that and that is unfortunate for sure (especially as someone who knows all too well how much time can go into a town)! I definitely would recommend playing again on the physical copy (since it is more secure than a digital copy) and see if you can get your system repaired (Nintendo may be able to help out if you explain the situation to them). o/

EDIT: Also, your friend is not being a real friend. A real friend doesn't steal their friend's stuff and break it!

Aww! Sorry that happened to you. The way you say 'borrowed'...it kinda seems like your friend took your system without your permission. If that's the case your 2ds wasn't 'borrowed', it was stolen. And not only stolen, but irreparably damaged while in her possession well.
I'm hope I don't sound like I'm telling you what to do but...a 'friend' who doesn't respect your boundaries is not a good friend. The least she could have done was ask you, and she didn't even have enough courtesy to do that for you. If I were you, I'd make her pay for it. Not like revenge or anything, but make her get you a new one. She stole your stuff and then broke it. If she was a good friend, the least she could do is apologize and replace it.

Sorry to hear about that. Word on the street is that you can recover fragments of your town (map, villagers, public works projects) if you had a dream address for your town. It doesn't help with the stuff inside the houses, but it could be a start. Try the search bar to see if it is a possibility for you!

To be honest if someone did that to me, they wouldn't be my friend for much longer. I'm fairly easy to get along with, but I have zero tolerance for someone stealing my possessions and being so irresponsible to the point of destroying them. Sorry you have to go through that. Hopefully you are able to get your town back, however unlikely that may be.

oof. that really sucks. i'm sorry that this happened to you. if stealing your system wasn't enough, she goes and drops it in the water! big yikes from me. anyways, i think you should still play acnl. if your data is all gone, try going over to the Re-Tail board and find some threads that you can buy items and clothes from and go to the Villager Trading Plaza if you want desired villagers.

as for your system, if you aren't having any luck reviving it, accept the offer your friend made.

Oh yeah! Totally forgot about this! OP, if you have a dream address then it's totally possible to use...um 'magic' and get your town back! I did it before with one of my old giveaway towns. It took some time, but after it was done, everything was back to normal, and I hadn't lost a thing. Of course it depends on how updated your dream town was when your real town was lost, but if it was fairly close, you should get most, if not everything back.

I actually have heard of people doing this, it's a tedious process. How they get the stuff back, idk.

Also, man that really sucks, what was your friend doing outside by a lake, and how did they even drop it? So careless smh. My Nintendos never go outside, only if they're in my bag, which I don't even do anymore.

As for damages, if someone did that to me, I would make them buy me not ONLY a replacement model, but the newest best model of my choosing along with the game they destroyed. I have zero tolerance for anyone messing with my consoles. I was even wary of letting my sister use my one old system, cause she was remaking the town and had her stuff in my town. I moslty was at work so she just played while I was at work to get her stuff back. I'm glad to hear that they OFFERED to buy you a new one.

It's exactly what Stella-Io said. Its a long process and can't be discussed here but ultimately yeah, it did help me get my town back. A friend of mine actually helped me do it since I didn't know what I was doing and it took us forever.

We don't really know much about their friendship dynamics so I think we shouldn't spread negativity like this. Op doesn't sound angry at the person but just angry at the situation, the person admitted she took the item, damaged it and now willing to buy new. Ofc taking anything without permission is bad in most cases but again we don't know the details. I have a friend that's almost like a brother to me and I wouldn't mind if he take my stuff and he won't if I take his. After many "lol why do u even ask, ofc you can"s the current state got shaped like that; we just use common sense for things especially valuable. Their friendship could be something similar, so I wouldn't start saying things like " bad friend, she stole it".
