I didn't know this glitch existed;

For those that don't know, in New Horizons, there is a known glitch/bug that does not let you delete friends from your friends list.
This is an issue if there is going to be a limit, and also an issue because people have sent gifts to accounts that no longer exist on New Horizons.

That means (like is my current case) if you reset your island, your friends will still have your old island info in their friends list. It may just be a little annoying for people that only have a few friends, but for people with a lot of friends, or picky people like me who like to keep it clean, it is stuck there. You can remove them as a best friend, but not a regular friend.

I just got off the phone with a very kind representative from Nintendo. There is currently no known fix. Some people have tried removing the friend via the system; I do not know of any cases where this has worked, unfortunately. EDIT: I have tried it, and it did not work for me. I have read pages on reddit and looked over the internet, and until they fix this, the best thing to do if you experience this is call the support line and report the bug and hopefully make enough noise that this gets looked in to.

If I can inform even just one person, I feel like I have done my job.

Have you tried removing them from your switch friend list and add them back?

I helped a friend reset her island and after she dropped off all her items, she deleted me before she was reset her island island. Then she added me back. So I only have one listing for her now.

Also we were best friends before she reset.

The rep asked me that, and I haven't tried it. She didn't instruct me to try it, but maybe it'll work?
It's my bf's switch, and I am the one who reset. He said he didn't really feel bothered by it, but I do. Maybe he will eventually let me try, lol.

Edit: Tried it, didn't work. It may have possibly worked for your case since she deleted your switch friend BEFORE she reset.

And another thing happened when I played through local comunication with a friend which online subscription was off. While we were playing together she got removed from my NH friend and best friend lists !
I think it's because the game knew she couldn't play online and thus it was unecessary to have her in my list... But in that case it should also know where someone delete us in the Switch friend list...

That's also happened to someone, but for them where they removed someone because they were being inappropriate with them, but because there's no easy fix to this glitch, they were stuck opening gates with best friends only or via dodo code because the person would come to their town unannounced, and that's kind of sad.

Yes, I did. I may try that tomorrow evening, especially if they are going to do a big update on the 30th. It's a little disappointing that there are events as early on as 5 days after launch that this was discovered.
