I despise nmt

I disagree, but I do dislike the day-to-day tasks. I wish the other achievements had more than 5 or 6 stages. But I love the mystery islands and being able to choose your villagers without multiplayer through them. And finding fruitful islands is also a lot of fun. I just don't want to play for like half an hour just to gain one ticket. But I think this handles achievements better than New Leaf did, it's more fun to earn them imo.

They are better than bells as a currency because it isn't so easy to TT to get nook miles as it is to get bells as you can keep setting your clock to Sunday, then immediately sell on turnip exchange and repeat, with nook miles, it takes more effort or just more time in general, making them safer than bells and it is neat going to lots of islands to try to get villagers you want (think of shiny hunting in Pokemon) You can get 300 nook miles a day by time travelling but it takes a lot of time to get 1 NMT by TT each separate day and having to access the machine and save. It makes finding villagers you want a lot better instead of kicking out villagers, and hopefully having the 1/400 villager you want to finally move in.

tbh it does kind of annoy me how as a currency it's extremely focused towards time travel, I understand how it is useful for TTers, but as someone who doesn't and only uses one NMT a day it's pretty useless as currency
The bright side is that you can make a good amount of money as a non-TTer by selling NMTs.

Honestly though, if we ignore their use as a currency. NMTs are actually a really great thing. To be able to choose who moves into your island rather than leaving it up to chance. Although, I'm one of the few that doesn't mind random move-ins, I still like using them to pick out villagers I've never had before in any of the previous games.

NMT aren't too bad, if you use them to trade they're much easier than bells, and bells aren't really hard to come by. If you don't want to complete your museum or get different furniture than the ones available on your island, they're still great to gather resources, and of course for island hopping.

To top it all off, I blame villagers being found at mystery islands for this fiasco.

I think the idea of being able to island hop to find your villagers is a great idea. The only problem is that there's over 400 villagers and only I would estimate around 100 villagers that the majority of people really love and want on their island. The tier list is a perfect example of sought out villagers and so when you bring it into villager trading markets where there were already hugely inflated prices in peak years of NL (Looking at you Marshal auctions), it's no surprise that NMT became the new standard. Which then eventually spilled into other markets like item and diy trading.

This doesn't even take into account the duped crowns at the beginning of release.

I agree with the May Day ticket idea and that they really should have made NMT nontransferable

I don’t have an issue with them, it’s just another form of currency. People still trade with bells, items, gold... I guess I feel complaining about this form of currency is strange if you’re fine with the rest.

I wouldn't mind using nook mile tickets as a currency (since they could have multiple uses) if it weren't for the fact that people are asking for hundreds and thousands of them.
This is even more annoying when you consider a good chunk of them are probably hacked in by people using custom Switch launchers and cheat loaders for the game.

Kind of reminds me of furniture and stuff crashing in New Leaf because cheat cartridges basically allowed you to get any item at all in the game in any quantity.
