I restarted yesterday, after taking a break from ACNL due to hubby's holiday, and found a likeable map. As I was stepping off the train and heading into Lontano, I wished I had Whitney again because I loved her from my previous town. All of sudden my heart did a flip as I saw her standing by the train station waiting for me. I was so over joyed a crazy photo session with her commenced
I then realised I had a character called Skye living in the village of Lontano. I never met that character in question before and I couldnt help but smile when I realised she was another wolf and one that is in my favourite colour!! Two wolves in my town, my luck couldn't get any better right?
Today rolls on and I noticed that Emi was giving away Julian the Unicorn for free. I jumped at the opportunity to grab him as he's been a dreamie of mine for such a long time.
I feel so lucky to have three villagers, two of which were Dreamies, starting Lontano off for me. Three that I adore and will hold onto for as long as I possibly can.
Has anyone else had luck like this from restarting?

I restarted a few months after release, basically because I had just chosen the first map going and my town was just really cramped and awful. I didn't really think about PWP placement and it ended up being really hard to make it look pretty, especially as I'd already placed permanent things like the campsite and cafe.
I was really apprehensive about restarting, mainly because even though my old town was kinda fug, I'd still put so much time and effort into it. Anyway, ended up restarting and it was the best decision. My map is seriously fab. Town tree right in the centre, retail near the docks, south facing waterfall, little sea side nook for my house, nice short river, TON of space for PWPs. And circle grass and native apples! My favourite combo!
I was kinda worried I wouldn't be inspired to put much effort into the town, but after seeing the fantastic map I was just so driven to make the best of it. I think restarting is very beneficial because you can build on all you've learnt from your previous town. I put waaaay more thought into PWP placement and how it would affect my future plans for my town. I had kinda naff villagers to start with (Chow ugh, how is he STILL kicking around nearly 9 months later?!?! LEAVE) but Carmen was one of my starters which was super awesome as she's one of my all time faves. I also had Zell and Diana move in within a few days, which was awesome as I had Zell previously and loved him, plus one of my friends really wanted Diana so I gave her to her.
I have decent luck with getting popular villagers in new saves. In my very first save, I had Wolfgang and Ankha, in another save I had Diana, Fauna, and Erik, then I had Stitches and Wolfgang in another save, and most recently in my current save I had Ruby as one of my starters.
Anyway, I'm glad to hear that resetting worked out for you and you were reunited with Whitney. I hope that you'll be able to get all of your dreamies soon
I restarted semi-recently. I got Chief and Peanut as starters. Not dreamies, but I really liked them both, and now I love them both. Then Jacques moved in, who I quite like now, and I've gotten most of my dreamies before the town even got full.
The new town is even better as well, just overall. I like the fresh experience of a new town with all the knowledge of my previous one. I'm like this in most games; I like having a basic grasp of the mechanics before really diving in, so I usually tend to restart after I've made a little progress and then go from there.

I've not been happy with my maps/village for a long time but the restart did me good and I have everything I want to make Lontano a lovely place. I've also got a nice plan in my head for my village so hopefully I can start putting that into motion after a week
I never wanted to restart but after a few days, I had that niggling feeling and knew I wouldn't enjoy the game so much unless I did. I am truly happy with my town and I cannot wait to see it grow. I do hope I manage to get my hands on my other dreamies but if not, I have my main two that I adore
I'm pretty sure as well that I'll end up loving other characters when they move in. I mean some of the are so cute you cant help but fall in love with em
I do prefer to restart on certain games too. Sometimes I like to get a feel for the game and then once I'm happy, restart and do it better. I'm very finicky like that lol.
I love the wolf ladies. I have Freya and Skye living next to each other, and everyone says they are as close as sisters. I hope the same will happen with Whitney and Skye in your town.
I remember something like that happened in my old town. It was my second town. Right before I restarted, I had just learned about the concept of dreamies, and I was looking at Animal Crossing wiki for some. There and then, I saw Kid Cat, and instantly fell in love. And lo and behold, when I chose an acceptable map, who was there to greet me? KID CAT. I was so happy. Not only that, but I had Stitches, too. I loved them so much. Sadly that town is long gone, but I am very happy to have them both in my new (okay, maybe like fifth) town, which I will keep forever.
I really do hope she wanders into your town soon. She does come up now and again so hopefully you can get her soon xx
Coming to think of it, Whitney did say that she wanted us three - Herself, Skye and Me to become good friends. I'm over the moon with that. I do hope they become sisters as that would just be the cutest.
I do like Freya too so hopefully I can have her joining the Wolf ladies
