I've heard so many horror stories about Nookazon, I've steered well clear. Not to generalize, but I just haven't had that problem at all on Bell Tree. Which, isn't to say people don't need to be careful on Bell Tree but like. It really says something about the community.

I felt it was very deliberate. I found it BS too. I've had trades for nearly a hundred times now yet this guy's the most slippery one. I swear this was traumatizing. I just barricaded my vaultable areas with bushes (even small corners that I might miss) so this won't happen again.
Goodness that's horrible! A lot of people on other sites and discord servers dont seem to understand etiquette, it's why I tend to trade here instead because pretty much everyone I've traded with is perfect and polite ^^
Everytime I do a trade, I stay as close to the the airport dock as possible unless I get given some space to trade!

That's awful.. I'm so sorry that happened to you! Some folks just feel the need to act like toddlers. I don't know how Nookazon works, but I do hope you reported them/gave them bad feedback.
Yes! Even though theres scammers the mods on the nookazon disc server are absolutely amazing! They are quick to act, a scammer I had the misfortune of dealing with was banned from the server quite quickly when I brought it to their attention with provided evidence!

wow, people suck. i have thankfully not had any bad experiences, just a misunderstanding once when someone i assume didn't know cataloging means they don't get to keep the items...
The true fear of Nookazaon and discord be real, i already have crazy anxiety and trust issues to deal with, this game isn't supposed to be stressful but i think I may not actually be enjoying it like i did with new leaf. If the person bolts power.

GOD this makes me mad. Why would anybody think this is okay?? Are we just not teaching AC etiquette properly, because I feel like this is just common sense. Like I'm sorry, but personally if I was starting out, I wouldn't be a ***** and assume that hidden items and being FENCED IN was a sign that maybe I shouldn't try and find a way out??

Some people just suck. I accidentally picked a flower on someone's island earlier and was freaking mortified about it so like I truly don't get how they have the audacity to do stuff like that?? :c Glad you didn't lose anything

This is exactly why I try my best to fence everything. Use furniture, pick up obstacles, check behind my trees, everything. I've heard so many instances of this happening, I've even HAD this happen to me. (A person attempted to skirt payment and getting in trouble because he just wanted to "explore my island" and ruined it for everyone else) It's also because of this I don't leave any items outside. People act like fools now...
Maybe some people just like to be mean. This person DID give me what I wanted (to trade) but I didn't expect them to ransack my island despite keeping their word...
It's also somewhat my fault for being complacent. It's my responsibility as a host to be vigilant since I trade as my main playstyle in AC. I'll definitely be more careful next time...I should know better since I'm exposed to more people than most players.
Thank goodness that autosave didnt kick in. There's no excuse or reason why anyone should pick up items off the ground unless they are specifically told it's okay. For all they knew, it could have been some odd way you were decorating. The fact they had to slink around through fences is also a red flag that their reasoning wasnt acceptable.
If I'm on a stranger's island, I strictly take care of business and then go. If it's an acquaintance, I'll ask if it's okay if I walk around but I would still never disturb anything on the island. There's only a small handful of people I have a comfortable enough animal crossing relationship with where we can make ourselves at home on each other's islands
edit add on: I just hate to see you blaming yourself and saying this was your fault when it wasn't at all. It's not your fault that other person was a thief >.<
