Weebs are gross, yo. If you're over 15 and still in that cat ear wearing, glomping, yaoi desu phase, I feel bad for you, and may the gods that inhabit your basement watch over you and your animes.

Liking Japan isn't bad. Liking an idealized version of Japan is bad. Most weebs couldn't give a crap about the economics or the politics, or even the real history there because they're seeing Japan as this fantasy land and- ugh. Grinds my gears.

i think we might have some different definitions of "weaboo" floating around this thread now
because like. i call myself weeb**** because i use random terms, i use emoticons, i enjoy anime/manga of whatever sex pairing, and i can get silly with it at times, but im no longer in the phase youre speaking of, that i more of was when i was younger.
i also dont see japan as a fantasy land, i know there are problems and things like that -- if you talked to like, 13 yr old me, youd be cringing so hard your face would cave in tho

so perhaps, the thing im describing isnt a weaboo. or, perhaps there are varying levels. the whole glomping/glorifying japan/etc etc etc thing is totally awful and disgraceful, but i wouldnt really know what to call myself then i guess? besides a normal appreciator. but i still tend to think im a bit of weeb**** since i like it so much lmfao

edit: i also dont see wearing cat ears as a bad thing but thats just me, nor do i see going to cons as a bad thing, i think its all in moderation
glomping is always bad tho.

oh, and to respond to you; liking yaoi isnt bad, so long as the appreciator knows that its literally just a homosexual couple. i know that sounds ridiculous, but i have legitimately seen people saying "I LOVE YAOI BUT GAY PEOPLE ARE DISGUSTING" and so. i. i just kinda. yeah. wanna make sure thats thrown out there.

Cat ears in public, particularly ratty ones - no. Cat ears at a con, okay.

Glomping is basically harassment, honestly, especially the people who seem to want to do it to everyone?

...I know it sounds weird, but there's people who can handle their interests with a grain of salt, and then there's those people. I'm not sure how else to put it.

"I LOVE YAOI BUT GAY PEOPLE ARE DISGUSTING"

I have seen these people.

I just. It's very hard not to kill them.

Ehh, welll I personally don't have any opinion about the Weaboo thing and how people started hating those people all on a sudden lewls.
I don't title myself as any of that. And hey, I don't blame people who're obsessed with Japanese culture cause they've got some cool stuff going on there, there is no need to be into their economic and political status. /nudgeRevolverOcelot/

I do think it's funny to tease it a bit, but doesn't mean I'm against them.
& wutt who said that LOL LIKE. THE.... I CAN'T EVEN HANDLE.

I think another thing that should be addressed with the yaoi thing is the fangirls who fetishize IRL gay couples because of it. Mainly the ones who say "I don't hate gay people because yaoi!!!!" Or the ones who see a gay couple out in public and go "OMG real life yaoi!" and are really creepy and gross towards them.

But as long as you aren't like that and don't do what shiro said, I think it's fine to like yaoi at 17 lol (I still read yuri lmao).

Well, I've never really met someone who would actually bother a homo couple because they like Yaoi. But I suppose that goes for everything so I agree. <:

hey. :c

And I mean, those people that really really want to move to Japan should have a basic understanding of the economic climate in order to live affordably, and knowing the politics tells you what to expect. Like uh- Pixyteri comes to mind. Girl wants to move to Japan and become a kawaii idoru with no idea of how any of that even works. Or how to even go about getting an apartment of her own.

Idk. Liking anime and liking Japan come across to me as two different things sometimes.

I wish I could say the same, but there are some really weird/immature people who live in my town lol. I also saw it as a submission on queersecrets, so I know we're not the only place that that happens. :/

I feel as if you're super crazy about Anime, you would like the Japanese culture as well. ( Well I'm not the one to talk. lol ) But I see what you're going at. It's important to know some basic knowledge, and I'm pretty sure if they had some common sense they would do some research on the place before going there. :lemon:

That's really strange.
I live in California /tmi/ and like I have a couple of gay friends they seem to be left alone. xD
Well, california doesn't explain what's going around the whole world.

But that's strange. lol

This makes me rage very quietly. If anyone, anyone came up to me and my boyfriend and said ANYTHING like that- ugh.

I don't do harassment. Straight, gay, whatever- no one should be standing there making those kinds of comments unless they want to get punched.

Man, this is kinda hard. I can be like 7-10+ in an instant but I can also be like 3-0 sometimes.

I'm an absolute 10, my dad goes to Japan regularly for business and I always make him get a bunch of jpop and anime stuff for me... xD

eh like 4
i try not to be one
i watch a lot of anime but i dont really bring it irl
i stay away from my school's anime club because i cant be around the people that go there |:
i do get into a couple of deep anime discussions with friends though
its weird to me when they talk about ships, because ive never been much of a shipper. i've only gotten behind one ship ever i think, and that was in pokemon(ferriswheel).

oh and i dont do cons. if i ever did go to one i wouldnt dress up most likely

Yeah but that said most japanese people don't act like weaboos. like. 99.999999% don't.

So it's not so much that they aren't japanese, but more that NO ONE acts that way apart from in fiction. (plus i'm wondering why you say asian, I mean, If a person of indian descent was a weaboo, They'd still be a weaboo. like, maybe it's just you worded something wrong? but its not like THE ENTIRETY OF ASIA -but I take it you mean eastern asia, even so point stands- has the same culture or media at all, I'm overthinking this though)

I said Asian because if you're Korean/Chinese, odds are, people won't call you weeaboo if you like anime.
