Hi!
I was just wondering how to avoid getting scammed. I use other sites aside from TBT and I was wondering is there any way to avoid scam after you drop something? Like if I drop what I am going to pay and then they try ending the session is quitting the game enough? Since the game autosaves I was wondering if there was a sure way to disconnect AND make sure you keep your stuff. I hope I made sense...
Opening the home menu and closing the software will reset you to your last save which was prior to you leaving your island! Very useful and you can do this even if someone is ending the session.
What the previous poster said. Also I just stick to TBT for any trades or sales because in the 5 or 6 years I’ve been a member I’ve never had issues with villager sales or Amiibo card trades and I’ve done it 174 times. Great people on here.
Reviews are always the best indicator for me. A lot of other sites do have some sort of review system so if you're worried, you can always check their rating to see if they will carry out their part of the deal. Of course, this doesn't mean that you shouldn't ever trade with people who have zero reviews. Everyone's gotta start somewhere. But if they do have zero reviews, just be a bit more cautious then usual.
I stopped using Twitter because of how many people are trying to scam. Home menu and closing the game immediately nullifies it. Luckily I've only had 2 people trying to scam me... usually on small trades too which is the saddest part. There's no real way to protect yourself if you trade with someone random from twitter or reddit, and it requires multiple trips though.
During the trade you should keep you finger on the home button.
When you disconnected, everything turn back, so everyone keeps their stuff.
Also, I got scammed on some dumb ways that made me really pissed that people go that low: I payed to catalog items that come from Pocket Camp and to catalog one that's a DIY. When you want something, take a look on Nookazon because it says where you get the item. Don't be like me haha
I don't do trades anywhere that doesn't have a rating system. I also don't trade with anyone that requires an entrance fee. (I generally pay upfront, but entrance fee scams are REALLY common so I stopped going anywhere with them) I used to do trades on Twitter even for amiibo cards, but the AC community has just gotten so big this time around, it's harder to hold people accountable for scamming. There also seems to be more of it, so I'm playing it really safe these days.
i’ve only done trades on here, acc and gamefaqs. while i haven’t used the last 2 in ages, acc has a rating system and at the time, gamefaqs had a blacklist so you could get a general idea of who you should/should trade with. that being said, i only use tbt now for activity reasons and it has the feedback system so you always have an idea of what the person you’re trading with is like - plus, so many of the users on here are great ;u;
