I procrastinate so much, it's actually kind of taking over my life. I left all my winter break homework for today, my last day (one of the assignments was to read and take notes on a really long book), I still haven't done my Not So Secret Santa gift, and I even procrastinate when it comes to going to sleep. Nothing I do helps, if I turn off the computer I simply turn it back on, I have no will power. It's actually freaking me out a bit. I've been busy yes, and that's stopped me from doing some of these things, but it's getting really ridiculous.

Anyone else procrastinate way too much? Or are you one of those people who gets stuff done right away? Any tips on how to stop procrastination?

I'm just like you Callie, I definitely procrastinate too much, even when it comes to going to sleep.

What works for me, is no matter what, I do my homework as soon as I get home from school, that way I am not staying up really late doing homework. Projects and long assignments however, I usually leave until the last day because I'm lazy and I feel I do better work when I NEED to get something done. (this may or may not work for you)

What i have found is that stopping procrastination is all will power. if you want or need to get something done, but you'd rather be going on the computer or plying video games, you need to make yourself do what is right. There are no tricks, you just need to do what you need to do, and it is easiest to do this quickly. Say you're walking through your kitchen and your parents tell you to do the dishes, it is easier to do them right then as opposed to leaving the room and starting something else because once you start something, it is hard to just drop it, especially when you need to stop it to do a chore.

Also, instead of doing one long period of schoolwork, then going straight to chores (pretty overwhelming, depending on the workload) break things up and beat one level on a video game, watch a youtube video or listen to one song between each piece of homework you do. This way, instead of looking at schoolwork and chores as several hours of boring and wasted time and waiting to do it until it is too late, you might have a better chance at accepting that you have to do them, and doing them.

Overall, the easiest way to avoid procrastination is to do what you need to do as early as you can. If it's homework, do it right after school. If it's a project, you should at least start early on so you don't have as much to do if you wait until the last day. If you aren't doing anything and you know you need to do a chore, do it. You simply need to do what you know is right and what will help you in the long run.

Hope this helps! :D

I have the exact same problem, Callie. Everyday I wake up, I think to myself I'll have a productive day. Then I turn on my computer, and next thing I know it's bedtime. I wait to do my homework until the last minute and, though it's been getting me through alright up to now, I'm starting to fade a bit. I guess one thing that helps is doing some, taking a break, then doing more. It can feel overwhelming at first, but if you take it bit by bit, it's not so bad. And, like you, I am finishing my winter break homework on the last day before school. (Coincidentally, I also have to take notes on a book :P)

I procrastinate all the time. But I cant even do my homework today because I left my backpack in my locker on the 16th, which was the last day of school. Because I was, uh, sick.

You're lucky, we ended school on the 23rd. :(

Used to be, Now I've improved. I think it's because things are getting serious and people around me are realizing it to. Just tell your parents to put like 'ground' you, Then you'll have nothing to do then revise or do homework.

That's how I am. It's pretty sad, cause I will have a project due the next day and I won't even look at the project requirements until around 10 pm the night before. So I'm up all night doing a project, then I'll be tired all day in school and not do anything productive in class. Then, I get home, still tired, and I'll fall asleep from being so tired and not get any homework done.

I really need to fix it :/

I was going to post in this thread yesterday, that's how much I procrastinate. XD

actually, I try not to a whole lot. it depends how important things are.

Lol, same here.

In fact I'm procrastinating right now!

ALL ZEE TIME.
I don't mean to, it just happens. But it's a new year so I'm going to try and stop.

Wait, no scratch that... Anyways I do, alot

One thing I did while doing school projects was start the project almost the same day given, then tell myself in later days that the left part wasn't that big, and a few days before the deadline I just finished the rest, sometimes it worked, and wasn't that frustrating thinking I have to get it done.
