Upon release I only resetted for Apples/Blue airport, but I always knew this would not be my permanent island. So earlier this month I did reset 3-5 hours daily for about 3 weeks straight once I found out what I desired in a map after testing the waters in my first playthrough. My experiences/reasons for resetting/things I found out I needed;
- A clean slate - No more time travel in order to enjoy the full experience, not get burned out fast & not 'mess up' my Nook Miles achievement's dates.
- Rock formations turned out to be quite important for me. They need to be large in size for both the top edges of the beach & the rocks on the beaches, preferably distributed equally so the beaches are partitioned off in similar smaller beaches.
- I prefer the beaches to be rounded & broad, the majority of the maps have either very narrow parts or dents in them that do not feel natural to me.
- The biggest possible peninsula & dock in order to always have the most possibilities.
- I lost overview of all DIY recipes/furniture/clothing items I got my hands, so I downloaded an app on my phone to track all possible collectibles.
- Placement of RS on Island Map - I need it to somehow align in a mid part of the grid.
- Placement of secret beach needs to be in the middle.
Resetting was hell, but I know it was necessary in order for me to create an enjoyable island for possibly years to come.
Truth be said, a perfect map is a hard find. There's always something that could be even better, so I did eventually settle with pears in stead of apples, but other than that everything else is a solid 10/10 for me. The apples turned out to be my sister fruit & I must say the pears might've become my favorite native fruit because of this entire resetting process, and the pear furniture is easily my favorite of all fruit furniture.
Good luck to all resetting for that perfect map!
