When a villager invites you over to their house, is there an amount of time you're meant to stay? Will they eventually tell you they need to leave? I'm over at a villager's house right now and have bought a furniture piece and am waiting around to see if they ask me to leave.

Similarly, is it bad when they ask to see your house and you leave early while they visit? Are you meant to wait until they ask you to leave?

For me, I just buy whatever they put in their homes that are unnecessarily awkward and then leave telling them that their houses are good.

I've been asked to leave before so they do have that dialogue. I believe 5-10 minutes? Complete guess though. Not sure if you get a better friendship increase from waiting for them to ask you to leave though.

I stay for a while ^.^ pretend to actually be doing something with them, it's a game after all. Then I ask to buy the ugliest thing in their house and go on my merry way.

Haha yes I haven't been playing long, but if I see something that doesn't look nice in their house I'll try buy if if they offer!

Thanks for your responses! I wasn't sure if a longer visit would make them like you better.

i just buy something and leave as everyone else does, but when they visit my home i take them to all of my rooms and then wait until they say they want to leave.

I remember asking that same question here once, wondering if short visits meant less of a friendship level. Now I know that you just have to keep talking to them until they offer you something to buy or if in my house their stomach grumbles or whatever... Lol! I used to be so afraid of offending them. Now I can relax.

Yes, this is my case too ... I stay longer if I don't have high friendship established yet ... and I always look in a closet if they have one, in case there is something special in there ... I have gotten some great buys that way ... once a piece of Sloppy furniture! :lemon:

Awesome! I didn't know about stuff in their closets until I got nosey and bored one day and got a microscope! And then once a barbeque... And some don't have closets so that won't do at all! :P

I usually just stay for five minutes before leaving, and buy an item if available. Most of the time I have better things to do than walk around their homes, so five minutes is enough for me. :)

Yes that's what I'm trying to do now. I figured if you go through the motions of visiting their house then you might as well stay for a while. I like houses where you can play with their furniture, whereas some houses you can't do anything.

I don't talk to the villager non-stop because I think that annoys them. I walk around in their house a bit before I approach them again.

You can get items from their closets? How does that work?

I've opened stuff before, but just get the regular messages like "pretend you didn't see that."

It think it's random. If you look sometimes it will say "x item, what's that doing in here?" and then the villager will offer it to you.

It was really cute when I looked in and they said "It was a surprise gift for you but since you found it already then have it now!"

I do feel a bit guilty for poking around in someone's house because in real life I value my privacy. I get pretty annoyed if a friend looks through my wallet!

I do the same: go to their house and buy the item that I don't like then leave. Sometimes I put my game down while I'm at their house and I'll be over there for a long time. I was at Fang's house today for over an hour lol.

They won't get annoyed no matter how many times you talk to them if invited to your house or on an invite to theirs. They won't want to talk to you much the rest of the day, though.

I'm not that fond of Kyle, so I accepted an invite just to see if he had anything that needed to be removed. He didn't, so I tried to walk out. The game won't let you if you don't talk to them at least once.

The best for this is peppies. They say, "Who just snoops in peoples' things? Honestly! But, now that you found it, you might as well keep it!"

I stay for as long as it takes me to do some dishes or some errands for a few minutes. I sit in a chair or sofa if they have one. Then when I come back I try to buy the ugly stuff but most of the time, "it is their favorite and not for sale".

I talk to them until they ask me if I've seen something I'd like to buy so that I can reply with yes, then I leave.
