How does the campground work

Myself and the Mrs have both started playing acnl again because I got her a new 3Ds for Christmas. We even more recently got a NFC reader and a few amiibo cards because we wanted to invite them to our campground so we can play desert island escape and get their furniture, but after about a week of scanning the amiibos into the game, there hasn't once been the option to invite to the campground. All we get is a picture of them or a random piece of furniture. Any help would be muchly appreciated! Thank you

Could it be that you’re just scanning in regular series amiibo cards? Because those do not have RVs available to invite to your campground. Only the Welcome Amiibo RV villagers and the amiibo figurines have that capability! If it’s Desert Island Escape you want to play, you’ll have to scan one of the amiibo figurines with that item in order to obtain it (one of the RVs listed here) or you can get it off a trader here! I can also get you a Wii U console for free if you need it :> Once you have the console you can scan in the villager from the cards you have to use within the game!
