Are you into gardening? Got any garden projects for this year? Or maybe you're trying it out for the first time? Maybe you have some favourite plants? I wanna hear about them!

I myself currently don't have a garden but I would like to plant some herbs in a window box planter that hangs from the fence outside. Went to the garden center today but all they had ready was rosemary, so I got that for now while I wait for some other herbs to grow a little more. Plan is to get basil, oregano, and thyme! I grew basil and sage last year and the basil really flourished; I hardly knew what to do with it all 😅 I'll need to leave the planter inside for a while before I actually leave them outside, because we have tons of squirrels around that will dig up all the dirt. Learned my lesson last year!

I tried one year here in Colorado, but since we can get snow well into June at times, the growing season is very short!! I hate it... I was quite the gardener when I lived in California.

Also, anything that does grow, is destroyed by squirrels. My parents gave me a bottle of some kind of predator urine to spray on the flower and vegetable plants, but it apparently had a leak and spilled in the trunk of my car.

I never found any squirrels in my trunk, so maybe it works 😆

Oof, yeah I've learned squirrels are the biggest pest which is why I'm starting my herbs indoors first lol. What did you grow in California if I may ask?

I grew all kinds of vegetables, but my most successful were green beans, cherry tomatoes, snap peas and snow peas. I also had a lot of success with various squash and other tomatoes. I tried every year for different peppers, but they never really got nice and "healthy" looking.

My favorite plant was actually an artichoke plant. I lived close enough to the coast for the cooler weather to produce a few artichokes each year, although it took a year or two before the plant started producing.

I tried many others over the years but didnt have much success, like corn, pumpkin, watermelon. I even tried to get sunflower seeds. The flowers were gorgeous, but I didnt get any seeds worth harvesting.

I was always excited watching the plants grow though, even if I didnt get much from them.

Honestly, I wish I had a gift gardening in order to grow vegetables and herbs and spices but every plant I try to grow and keep alive die in horrible ways. Succulents dried up completely, the parsley plant shriveled up after three weeks, and the bamboo shoot died despite me constantly making sure its vase was always filled with enough water.
