How do you justify expensive purchases?

i like to spend a lot but i buy a lot of stuff instead of one or two expensive things. i dont see the point of buying one really expensive shirt or something unless it was RLY nice but i can always find cheaper options lol.

I'm actually pretty good at self-control when it comes to buying things. I rarely buy stuff without waiting a few days before I really want it, because I know I might regret wasting money hahaha.

That being said, I justify expensive purchases by saying I deserve it and it's only once in a while I spend a lot LOL. Or I can buy expensive things if it's not directly for me, like buying hamster supplies because technically it's for my hamster, or buying my boyfriend an expensive gift.

Well I don’t have a lot of money and usually if I don’t have much I just wait for the price to go down but on the other hand maybe it’s more expensive because it’s new it really matters how much you want it example

let’s say that there is a new switch game for sale and it’s 60 dollars and you don’t know if you want it yet or not you should do some research but if you know you want it really bad you should get it if you have leftover money but that’s my opinion maybe not your but good luck with what you want

I don't tend to purchase something particularly pricey, unless I'm going to get a lot of use out of it. If it's practical, like a pair of running shoes, then it makes perfect sense for me to invest the money in something that's going to protect my feet and increase my performance.
If it's a really expensive dress or decoration though, I would probably sit on the thought rather than impulse purchase it.
Wait a week or two and see how you feel, rather than buying something on the spot. You'd be surprised how many things you're willing to let go once you've waited a bit and really thought it through. Or better yet, sometimes you forget entirely. If you can forget it in that short of a time span, you likely didn't need it at all.

If it's something absolutely needed and there's nothing cheaper for it, then I buy it and try not to let the price tag bother me too much.
If it's not needed then I avoid purchasing it lol.

If it's a gift, it's much easier to justify the purchase because you value that person in your life, but if it's for myself, well, I usually ask myself, "Do I really need this?". I think whether or not I'd get any use out of the item I'll be getting and if I do, I'll buy it. If I'll use that item rarely or in very narrow circumstances, then I don't get it.

I'll usually sit on it for a while, if it's still something that I really want after a while (or have really wanted for a long time already) then I'll usually go for it, the amount of time I need to want it increases the more expensive it it (e.g. something $500 needs to be something I've wanted for a lot longer than something $100, which is why it took me so long to get a switch haha)

most of the time it really just has to do with my financial situation at the time, usually I do pretty okay money wise but there are some times when I've already spent a lot of money on other things (like recently I had to spend $850 on my car after it got flooded) so I'll usually put off larger purchases around times like those

my fiance and I also just recently got a joint bank account so we usually run big purchases past each other

You see something at the store/online that you want really badly and then check out the price. You cringe a little and it causes you to hesitate on clicking "order." What do you usually do next? Do you decide to just wait until a better deal comes along? Do you buy it anyway?
You gotta just buy it ;) does it spark joy? Yes? Then purchase!!! If you feel yourself second guessing then you know you don't really need it. Don't buy just to buy, you gotta love what you're purchasing!!!!

I usually think if I'll be able to get that thing again or if that chance is the only one, even when it's expensive.

well if i really want it i save up and buy it. theres a method of waiting like a month and if u still want it then buy it, if not, it was a whim of the moment. i justify them bc its my money that i earnef and i deserve nice things lol

The main things I look at are (a) if it'll make me happy, (b) if I have the spending money for it, and (c) if I'm expecting to spend that money on something else in the near future. I take serotonin wherever I can get it ahaha, so if that's the case, I have spending money, and there isn't anything coming up that I know of, it's a no-brainer. I'm more hesitant when I've got other things I want to get in the near future, or when there's a gambling aspect to it (i.e., blind box merch) and there's no guarantee I'll get what I'm after. Sometimes I'll fudge things a little and get the thing if I really want it and it might not be easily available in the future, in which case I tend to put other purchases off and re-prioritize.
I definitely have a price limit too though. Relative cost is important, like if I think I'd get a little out of it, but it costs a lot, then it's probably a "no". And if it's over a certain amount then it's pretty much an automatic "nah" from me.

I don’t. I just get it if I want it, it’s that simple.

It depends. If it's something physical, I think about the cost and whether it is something I'd enjoy only for a minute or a long period of time. In-app purchases are another story because I think I've spent well over $100 on Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. Small amounts of money in large quantities adds up fast. I spent $10 today to get this little guy from a Disney emoji matching app...whoops.
