How do you do this?

I've noticed how some players use their custom-design sign and make a town map on it. How do they do this? It looks so cool and I really want have one in my town. Is there something that can help you do this or do you wing it?

You need to make your map as a pattern and put it on that public works project. And since it's your own map you'll have to make it yourself. I've never seen that before. Very unique idea.

I was wondering if there was a certain approach to doing the pattern, those maps look so perfect. I guess I'll just have to start drawing.. lol

I want to say there's a website that converts pictures into designs you can draw if you follow the pattern. Might make it easier. You can probably find it on google.

there is a website that converts it to a picture for you!

its called thulinma, just look up acnl thulinma, you can put in a pic of your map and itll do the rest for you!

Not to trying to rain on the parade, but I never understood the point of this. The map is always displayed on the bottom screen so why waste a PWP for this.

its for cosmetic reasons. of course the map is useful in the bottom screen but its fun to see it physically in your town. so if someone likes to have that in their town, then it isnt "a waste"

I thought the same thing; it just looks nice in your town =P I wish people thought of more original ideas like this.
