How do y'all feel about furniture?

I miss the rococo series so much ;_;
I also feel like there just isn't enough variety for essential items (bed/table/chair) and the only thing you can really do to make it different is change the design pattern.
I just don't wanna end up having the same standard rooms/kitchen/bathroom as everyone else that you see on social media

I'm hoping upcoming updates will add more furniture options and the ability to get other colors too. I love the instrument set in black, but it doesn't fit one of my areas, where the white set would look gorgeous.

These are a bit unfair given that the NH house is still a WIP, but here's my NL/NH room comparison

I feel like NL's knickknacks had a little more charm? Most of NH's stuff seems more "functional", like mugs and stuff. I'm also not a fan of how we can't decide which rooms we want to add an when. Makes decorating the main room that much harder.

I've been checking for furniture in the store each morning since launch and lately the experience can be summarized as: 'oh, it's you...again'.
Yesterday I was busy and forgot to play and I don't even care, probably was just the same stuff and colors. 😅

I know that people in this thread are saying they like functional / normal furniture, but if only more wacky furniture was added, then it wouldn't negatively affect them in any way. And if more furniture was added in general, a good chunk would be realistic furniture and would give people more options. It doesn't feel right that NL had ~1700 items while NH has ~1000 items.

I know PC is a gacha game with lots of lootboxes and microtransactions, but it still sucks to have a mobile game receive tons of updates and items while a mainline series game barely has anything. I don't expect them to put all the PC stuff in NH at all, but even just a couple of sets inspired by the PC fortune cookies would be really nice.

You seriously need to spend tons of $$$ to have the sets in PC anyways, most PC players aren't the ones spending money. Would adding even just some of the furniture in NH really make the PC superfans stop spending money? Most gacha superfans I've come into contact with are addicting to the gambling aspect of the game and don't care if the mobile game is inferior to the mainline series.

I also wish that NH had to the interactivity of PC furniture. Seriously, why I can't I ride the teacups :(

This is pretty much it. I was surprised that PC was being kept alive after NH was released, so I did some looking into it. Of the mobile games nintendo has, fire embelm and PC have the smallest userbases, but splash the most cash. It really is a golden goose.
This website in particular has a handy graph: https://sensortower.com/blog/nintendo-revenue-one-billion
Unrelated, but wow does FEH make a ton of money. I guess Camilla in 200 different outfits is worth $$$

When I saw the direct with the interior design mechanic, I was excited because it looked like Happy Home Designer but better. After playing for a couple months, the furniture options in this one just make me miss HHD. In the time I've been playing I've seen only 3 different couches in Nook's.

i don't miss a lot of the old sets, but i'm bummed that there are so few interior items. i know we're just being forced to wait for the release of additional items, but like. pls gimme. i'm waiting for a good mid century modern series. where is it ty

also i haven't heard anyone say it yet but the cute set is a SHAME. i used to adore the lovely series even if it was kinda gaudy, but the cute set is just awful. color scheme sucks, i haven't seen it used in a way i really like yet. you can't prove me wrong lol. i miss the uwu kawaii set ups!

the completionist in me does kind of like that i can get all the items though, it doesn't feel as overwhelming in this version.

To be honest, the furniture aren't that bad to the point you wouldn't be able to create anything that you like. It might be temporary and Nintendo will patch them up in the near future. For now, I'd think of the brighter side and the lack of your favorite sets or specific furniture will make you think outside the box and be resourceful of what you have? And that in itself is creativity. I've seen interior rooms here on different threads that looks amazing so I guess you just have to work a little more for it to find matching pieces (furniture, wall items, wallpaper, flooring and rug. Everything is important) then, who knows? You might end up liking the finished product more than you expect.

Today I visited Teddy and he had all the log furniture, the I went to Claude's who had the exact same furniture, then I went to Shep's and the same again.

I feel sick.

PLEASE, bring back the New Leaf items, including the RV items.
Monster Hunter and Zelda items as well.

So sick of all this..... WOOD.

I'm not saying that I don't like them, I'm just saying that there isn't much variety and everyone's islands are starting to look all alike because of that.
I don't care if they bring back NL furniture or the PC catalogue, I just want more furniture - old and new - to be able to make different things and not only the abused diner, zen garden, etc.

Makes me miss the NL items!
The bales, the moth orchid, the clam music box! ^_^

I think NL stuff was more functional.
NH stuff does nothing. Like the kitchen island I spent heaps on,.

You can't interact with many of the items.

I miss Poogie, the watermelon. So many interactive items that could have been added to NH!

**Must start a Poogie petition.

My post wasn't directed at you or any specific person here. It's more like a general opinion to look at things positively. I acknowledged in my earlier post the lack of furniture and stuff, so I agree with that. But instead of just sitting around there moping and thinking that I could not properly make a room because I'm missing this set or specific item (not saying that you are, I know you didn't say that), how about we try to improvise out of the available furniture that we have? Sure, it would be hard for people who are used to displaying the set furniture to try to mix things up, but like what I said before, it'd be a nice challenge and this could possibly bring out the best in them. I understand the thought that everybody has the same areas, rooms, etc. but I honestly don't think of that when I look at someone's work. I'm more into details like how did you come up with this area/room? I'd like to hear the story behind it, plus another one's diner or zen garden could be different from the other. It also depends how you place stuff, location and putting little details that differentiate one from another. Also, a lot more people play the game now compared to the early days of New Leaf because of, well pandemic. So regardless if there are more variety of furniture or not, you would probably still see similar areas and people like to look at other islands for inspiration so that might be the case. I, personally don't think of that, since I'm not really fond of watching 5-star island tours and taking inspiration from them. I'm not saying that because I'm good or anything. I just don't like taking people's idea and try to force it in my island even if they don't fit theme just because it is popular. Anyway, nothing on NH is permanent except for the RS so I guess it's okay to decorate something out of what we have then later on add/change things once we get new stuff.

The furniture situation is pretty dire. There's a lot of cool stuff, to be fair, but it feels comparatively barren when you look at all of the sets from the older games. Hopefully more stuff, including older sets, are added in the future. Also, I don't and have never played Pocket Camp, but there are some pretty great clothes and items in that game and it's a shame that some of that stuff isn't included either.

I think most of the sets I have access to are the ugly as hell ones from events, which I think says enough when I've got more event sets from once a year things than I do common crap I should be tripping over.

Every room in my house is half arsed because I just dont have much variation in what items I can put there. I've not seen every item in game, but mine and my girlfriends catalogue are near identical and we're always getting the same crap in our shops or from recipies and balloons.

I like decorating more in NH than in NL, maybe cause I try to create somewhat realistic rooms. But I agree that more wacky furniture would only be a plus and pretty fun.
