How do y'all feel about furniture?

new horizons wants what pocket camp has

seriously why does the free mobile game give me cuter outfits and furniture than the 60$ console game???
Because it's a mobile game that depends on micro transactions and needs things like that to keep their players and to get them to spend money, whereas with NH you pay once and they got everything out of you that they can (until they decide to release a paid DLC).

That said it is quite sad to see just how much they cut and how little they added even though they have all the assets for it. Hopefully they'll add everything sometime.. I wouldn't even mind if they do it a bit at a time via events or small updates but it's been 3 months and very little got added.

I quite like the furniture in NH. I find it more "realistic" if you may? I prefer my room to resemble something I'd have in real life, rather than have it completely Rococo or Lovely... But that obviously is just personal taste.

I'm super frustrated. It seems like everyone's exteriors look the same! I wanted all the NL furniture and more, not less. I mentioned this in another thread too, but I really wish we even had some of the Pocket Camp furniture. That game has shrines, cafes, circuses, gothic sets, so much pretty stuff. I would honestly prefer more furniture over QoL updates.
So glad someone said this finally. I cannot agree more. Literally have only fully decorated 2 rooms of the house because of this sole reason. Im trying to make a kitchen/dining room without using the usual Ironwood set and its absolutely ridiculous because there literally is nothing else.

I browse reddit often and let me tell you Ironwood Kitchens are overdone as hell but really, you can't blame the people who do so because the game lacks furniture variety

I only have two rooms completed to. I have an antique main room and my back room is like a DIY wood shop. I have a bathroom and kitchen to the sides, but the furniture is just tossed in as I don't like what I have to work with and don't have the motivation to just 'get it completed so it's there.'

@rubyrubert It'd be one thing if they updated the game to give us more variety or QoL updates, but we haven't seen or heard word of either ever coming to us. We're still waiting on the Roost and gyroids that were data-mined (or announced?) Stuff that existed from Day 1 on the other games. And the game is close to being 4 months old.

my kitchen only has one ironwood item (kitchenette, of course) but it also has like 4 wood tables, so.

I agree too. I booted up my NL file yesterday and the difference between my mayor's house and my island rep's house is staggering 😭 especially considering I'm trying to make the same room! My NH house looks so lifeless in comparison. I'm on my phone but I'll try to come back to this with pictures.
It never occurred to me until I read this but I think this is why I struggled to set up my house in this game compared to NL. There was so much variety in the furniture sets that it made it very easy for someone like me to make my house look nice.

I'm more concerned about the lack of stuff you can put on a table like food, for example. Cups and more cups, really? I wish it has more variety like the ones that we got after the WA update on New Leaf. I also miss the bistro bar. And then, I also need the flower display case because I could not make a proper flower shop. I don't want to rely on simple panels and custom design. That's not the real thing lol. I don't mind the lack of specific furniture sets since I don't usually go by displaying a whole set in a room though I admit, NL has a lot more furniture and items. It's kinda disappointing especially when you think about that one feature of NH is that you can now display indoor furniture outside your house.

I also miss the arcade set from NL. The ones in NH are all the same arcade big boxes. There used to be other things like the crane game, pinball, space invaders ect. Now when you throw the arcade pieces on the floor they all auto-play. You could shut the music/sound off in NL. If you want a real arcade room in NH you're going to go death.

I agree, I wish there was more furniture. I also miss several of the old sets. Regal, rococo, all the Gracie sets, and, while the new cute set is nice, I kinda wish we had the items from the original 'lovely' set as well. The old lovely set is so nostalgic to me because I was obsessed with it as a kid playing Wild World.

Well, the fact that they took out my all time favorite, the modern series, makes me sad. I had been using that since day one on the GameCube. I miss it.

the furniture looks nice, but there’s like, none of it, and i think that’s real sad because I want to do some stuff with my town but im unable to because of the lack of furnitures ingame

Dude, I agree sm with this!!! When I had New Leaf, my crib was a whole mermaid castle. Why did they take that feature out??? Now the villagers have unique houses than the island representative...

I too am extremely frustrated with the furniture options in this game and that is why I haven’t started furnishing my house. There are some nice furniture but none go with the theme I picked or catch my eye as much as some of the furniture like the Gorgeous, Rococo, sloppy, Sweets, etc. sets had. I had plans on recreating some of my rooms from NL, but I can’t do that with what furniture we do have in the game. I was hoping at the very least some of the items from HHD would be in the game like the clothes stack, all the food furniture, the suit of armor, etc. Also, I need some smaller tables.

I’m still enjoying the game very much but a lot of my ideas I have to postpone because of the limited amount of furniture options we currently have.

Because if you want full sets, its almost guaranteed you'll have to pay real money?

I played pocket camp on and off since the start. I was a free player, only using leaf tickets I earned in game. I could usually complete the events with little trouble, but the fortune cookie sets or leaf ticket items could be like $30 for a full set. And theres usually a new set every two or 3 weeks, plus cookies. And re-releases of old items and older cookies.

I don’t dislike the furniture that we have, but I hate that the old stuff was removed. I’m hoping some of it will come back via updates. What we have right now is so limited. Also, the color lock drives me nuts.

Some of the old furniture I miss the most:
- The entire regal set, especially the pink customization
- the lovely set
- that one beach table with the drink and the umbrella
- Modern wood set from NL
-Rococo set

My house is literally empty because there’s nothing I want to put in it. :( I think a lot of what we have right now looks good outside but not so great inside.

I'm mad that they decided to remove all the popular and familiar furniture series and sets from past games. There were quite a few that I really liked such as the backyard set, the flower set and astro set from NL, and some items from the space set such as Spaceman Sam and the little floor shuttle. I also miss the staple sets such as the lovely, kiddie, blue, green, and modern sets. Like what warranted them to remove all these sets from the game??

oof i wasn't playing much by the time fortune cookies were a thing. i didn't realize they could get so expensive

it's pretty cool that they were releasing stuff so often though!

I watched a few of the PC fortune cookie promotional videos on youtube and wanted to cry
Compare this, this, or THIS to anything NH has besides maybe a few Celeste DIYs. I would be scared what Nookazon would look like if people were fighting over angel wings and a floating heaven stairway

I agree that those things look nice, but remember that in Pocket Camp they expect you to pay for those things with Leaf Tickets.

To the people reading this who have never played Pocket Camp, Leaf Tickets are a form of currency in the game that are occasionally given as challenge completion rewards, but most often must be purchased with real life money.

Leaf Tickets are required to purchase Fortune Cookies, which when opened reward the player with a random item from the furniture set represented by the decorations on the cookie. In other games, fortune cookies are referred to as Loot Boxes.

You can earn some Leaf Tickets, but never enough to get everything in a set (even if you managed to find a unique item in each cookie you bought.) You can't even buy the furniture outright, you have to buy the fortune cookies which only offer a chance of getting the items you want (I know you can straight up trade furniture for stamp cards, but you only get stamp cards by buying fortune cookies. Lots and lots of fortune cookies.)

I'm explaining this because this is how Pocket Camp makes its money.

We might never see some of the best Pocket Camp furniture sets in New Horizons. As long as Pocket Camp is on the market, it needs something to distinguish it enough from New Horizons to get people to play it. I know many of the players of Pocket Camp are smartphone owners who have no intention of ever buying a Switch or playing New Horizons, but many of its players do own both platforms, and Pocket Camp's unique and highly detailed furniture sets are a thing that sets it apart from New Horizons, which in many ways is it's direct competitor.

So I think as long as Pocket Camp is still making money, we're not going to see a lot of those amazing furniture sets in New Horizons. Unless a future update expands Nooks Cranny to include a fortune cookie shop and the ABD starts dispensing Leaf Tickets, then listen to our (real life) wallets collectively weep.
