how did this visitor come to my island?

okay, something really weird happened last night. i'm sure there's a simple answer to this but for the life of me i can't figure it out!

i had a villager crafting a diy last night so i was letting people onto my island to get the recipe. if they posted in the thread i had open, i would PM them my dodo code. i know for a fact that i only gave the code to four people, but i ended up having five visitors total. i have gone over the thread and my PMs with this fifth person multiple times, thinking for sure i must have given it to them and forgotten, but that's just not the case. they did not post in the thread and i did not give them my dodo code.

what's weird is that i visited their island earlier in the day for the same reason - to get a recipe that their villager was crafting. we did not register each other as friends or anything of the like; i came via dodo code, got the recipe, and left through the airport. i sent them a PM after they came to my island last night, asking how they got there, but they have not responded.

also worth mentioning, they were just like any other visitor i had that night? they went to the villager's house, got the recipe, and then left. they didn't mess anything up on my island and they were very respectful. it's as if they had posted in the thread and i had sent them my code...except i didn't!

did it have something to do with the fact that i visited their island earlier that day? how would that enable them to come to my island without my dodo code?

i considered that too, i just don't understand why someone would do that? visitation was completely free; they could have just asked for the code like everyone else. there were no hoops to jump through to get it. this is certainly possible but i have no idea why someone would have done that?

It's likely that one of the people you sent the code to just decided to share the dodo with a friend or something lol

Dodo Codes are surprisingly not hard to randomly put in and get a successful code. Though, likely that someone just gave the code out.

man, i gave a positive review to all the four people who i gave the code to last night...not sure which one of them it was that leaked the code, but that's really not cool. i didn't post it publicly for a reason...i try to control the number of people who are on my island at once. and i don't give it to people who have negative reviews (which for the record this person did not).

A solution for the future, ask them to post their name and island name, that way you can keep track of who comes and goes!

Could of been a friend or sibling in the same house. Id do that for my brother because he doesn't have an account but I'd also let the owner know

yeah, i would not have nearly as much of an issue if they had simply let me know. that surprise visit scared the crap out of me to be honest lol

I think one of the 4 people you sent the code to must have given their code to them (whether they're siblings, real-life friends or just know each other through this forum).
I don't really see any other way.
Maybe he thought it would be fine since you already visited earlier but I still find it sketchy.
