How can I stop Villagers from spreading their Catch phrases and Outfits?

It is really very annoying when villagers 'sing' together and spread their catch phrases and outfit. I really want to maintain their phrases and outfits as much as possible.

I was wondering how this 'singing' or 'spreading' is triggered and how I can avoid this.

I'm 99.9% it's random and you can't stop it. I've heard sending a villager the same shirt five times in a row they will wear it though

Yeah it is so annoying. I just reset without saving when I do notice it. But most of the time I dont even notice that the catch phrase changed. Sob

Unfortunately there is no way to stop it from happening. You can send or sell them a shirt but it will most likely happen again at some point.

Wow thanks for the info. I think I will have to accept that some of my villagers will look like twins with their outfits. Hehe

It is weird hearing the catch phrase of one villager being used by another though. Haha

The shirt thing doesn't bother me but it's annoying when you hear a mouse villager say something like "snort." Dx
You can always do the PWP diving trick to make them ping faster to get them to change their catchphrase faster.

if you see a villager's whose phrase and clothes you hate, make sure you always keep your fave vilalgers away from them.
this might sound mean, but really ostracize them. dont let them come near anyone. they need to be quarantined because their shirt is so. damn. ugly.

if you see anyone trying to sing, and they havent traded shirts yet, quickly push them apart. it might make someone angry, but they get over it in 5 minutes.

And if they do wear an ugly shirt, send them four of a better type at the same time. Works every time.

I wish, I had a lapse in judgement and gave my most hated villager a really annoying catchphrase - I've never seen a catchphrase catch on so fast >___>

Hahaha, like three of my villagers say "ribette" now and all wear my ugly designs from able sisters
