I understand how all the other tools such as an axe or fishing rod break but not a watering-can. It's like the equivalent of having a jerrycan break because it reached it limit of storing and pouring liquids. :S

I know it's game-play mechanic but still i find it really bizarre.

What do you guys think?

I would guess it is what ever interdimensional technology is used to get the water into it. Have you ever actually filled the watering can? The water just appears, then eventually the worm hole collapses on itself, taking the can with it.

The watering can breaking is one of those "additions" that is just really annoying. First week after the 4th or 5th one broke while going for hybrids it really settled in how annoying it truly was.

As someone with many gardens on his property, let me tell you...watering cans do degrade in real life, and eventually break. Usually they have a hole rust through the bottom after a decade or so. It depends how well it's taken care of...and what type of material it is made of. Obviously, if you make sure the can is completely dry after every use, put it away in a shed, etc...then it can last a really long time in theory. In reality, most people just leave watering cans outside...they collect rain water, they rust...they fall apart...like anything else.

At least for the flimsy watering can, if we assume you don't apply varnish to it the water would eventually cause it to get moldy since it's made purely from wood.

I was about to comment, "rust from the water"

I mean...I've broken axes in the middle of splitting wood, and shovels in the middle of digging in my real life as well. If I had any use for a net, I'm sure I would have broken some of those as well. I also once broke a broom in half in the middle of sweeping. Hahaha. Tools just break. It actually does happen. Lol.

yeah. Any tool you use even on a semi-regular basis breaks.

Hell if you were to take Kendo, then the wooden/bamboo swords you use would break from time to time. Everything in real life has durability. Heck even the device one uses to view this website has durability in real life. Just usually a really high durability.

Yeah but that's the handle. Not the actual ax head. If one of those shattered Hulk is probably swinging it around.

The acnh humans have evolved to have a grip force equivalent to a crocodile's bite force.

Also watering flowers is very stressful. I bet there's some hardcore grip marks on the handle, lol.

LMAOOOOO ok from now on this is how I headcanon the water can breaking-- either the worm hole collapses in on itself of the acnh human just obliterates it with it's grip force

Honestly of all possible explanations this is by far my favorite, and I am adopting it as canon, thank you.

I've broke ax heads, too...and splitting wedges. Lol. Again...not something that is going to happen right away...but use it long enough...it does happen. Iron gets weak, a crack forms...crack gets wider...eventually splits right in two.

I've had a few watering cans break on me in real life from wear and tear.

Nothing lasts forever.
Except my hatred for Quillson.

Hmm. As someone with zero gardens in real life, all three of these seem equally plausible to me:unsure:.

Funny story! once I broke a watering can by accientally drilliing a hole in the bottom... well, maybe it wasn't an accident but I was planning to fix it later so... yeah

The only way it would break is if we were filling it with hydrochloric acid.

Everything is made to break to induce forced crafting.

The watering cans I've had to replace in real life due to falling apart would say this is all true 😅

Also, do not underestimate sun damage! I live in California. It is very real and ruins so many things that sit in the sun.
