How can a watering-can break?

All of our tools break because either we lack fingers to hold them properly, or we are gripping it with too much force with our closed fists.

I mean...I've broken axes in the middle of splitting wood, and shovels in the middle of digging in my real life as well. If I had any use for a net, I'm sure I would have broken some of those as well. I also once broke a broom in half in the middle of sweeping. Hahaha. Tools just break. It actually does happen. Lol.
As someone who's taken up entomology I've borrowed a used net for long while and it was thankfully still sturdy despite a few years of use. You can't really break the handle simply by just swooshing the net around, but I suppose a broken net irl would mean that the mesh was chewed out or had holes in it from wear and tear.

You could probably snap a net handle if you hit a tree too hard trying to catch tree insects, though. That's probably why nets break in ACNH LOL.

to be honest, I find it low key annoying that any of the tools break after you upgrade them from the flimsy versions. take me back to the OG GameCube Animal Crossing when Nothing would break and you could fish for four hours straight uninterrupted

It's a feature they brought from Botw. It seems cool at first, but the novelty wears off pretty fast.

The watering cans are actually made out of paper. In fact, everything is made out of paper. That's why they break so fast.
