I agree You are sounded with hundreds of people.

Hey Lisa.....It's not your fault at all! You and especially your mum should be glad that you spoke up for yourself and wanted something better for your life! Public schools here in Southern California are atrocious!! I'm not sure how it is where you live, but from what you're saying....I'm glad you want more for yourself! You can teach yourself! I did and I already graduated with a better GPA than my friends who went to the neighborhood public school! Just try to get your mom to see all aspects of this Opportunity and see if she lets you teach yourself so she can get that daytime job! You sound smart enough to handle it on your own! :)

Can you afford it btw? You have to pay for books etc. on top of the taxes (since the government forces you to pay for their school whether you use it or not).
Public school or private school?

Public - yes

Private - nyeh. I can go to this very cheap one, though my mom denys it.
Neither: homeschooling
*high five*

If you can afford a private school, I'd say go. (You should come to my school, Lisalisa!)

I agree with Lilypad, I didn't know there was so much anti-public school sentiment. o: I guess mine was pretty good, at least in terms of education...

Faithe, I might sound smart to you, but I actually have trouble with schoolwork. Math for example: *Looks at problem* Hmm.. 8 x 3.. 8 x 2 would be 16, so 16 + 8 would be.. twenty something...
I get mixed up a lot and do things the hard way, in my head.. I have to be honest, I don't know all of my facts for multiplication D: I know, it's stupid. I just really have a hard time thinking, it's like there are things flying around in my head and start crashing, causing me to have a headache and not want to work.
I don't think I'll be able to teach myself, maybe for some subjects like Reading I can, but Math, Science, etc. no. :[

Allyfred, I'd want to go to your school if you didn't live so freakin' far away from me.. noob

And aren't you in high school wtf. Oh, are all grades combined? O: CAN I COME. No, I can't really afford private school, there was one for $600 monthly that my sister's friend goes to (they have Fridays off 0_e) but my mom said we can't even afford that.

You need to develop some kind of system where you can easily associate numbers and words together so you can memorize things better. That way it won't look too confusing and messy for you. Trust me....try finding a way and you'll start to see a difference. I'm not sure what kind of homeschool program they have where you live but have you ever heard of "Independent Studies"??

My cousins go to private school, one of them starting his last year of GCSE's, we compared our work (My beginning of GCSE work and his last year...I had got harder work than him and higher scores already, I started GCSE 15 days ago...) plus all the private schools near where I live (In the UK), you'd have to be extremely wealthy, my cousins go to one of the cheaper ones and their almost bankrupt and they're getting a worse education than me.

The one thing i hate about about my school is the lockers, I am lucky but when a person wants
to get to the one under you that's a problem. My coed is 78640.
But we are getting keys next year.
Try being tall and having a bottom locker surrounded by people who don't want anything to do with YOU and only YOU. I wish I had had a top locker >_> Lucky sonofa***** ...
In my school they give the high lockers to the taller people, I am lucky I am tall.
And are you not allowed to change yours?
2 things
1.I don't go to that school anymore
and
2.When I asked to move the principle literally just moved me across to the other side of the lockers *We had 2 sets of lockers with a hall inbetween them* which created another problem
1.I was still on the bottom >_>...
and
2.NONE of my classes were on that side of the lockers...

There aren't really any private schools close to me, only a Catholic one and I'm like agnostic. There was a marine/biology/technology school I considered going to but the bus ride was over 60 minutes long so my mom refused for me trying out. I guess public school offers stuff I'm more interested in (economics, psychology, music, etc.)

Faithe, I've never heard of that ;o

And, I try using paper, but I still mess up. I just have a hard time thinking. Sometimes I can't sleep because I think too much. I used to think I had insomnia, but it lasted 3 days ;l.

I've been in public school my whole life... i would never ever want to take online courses or be homeschooled... I'd rather die, but that's just my opinion.

Oh, give me a freaking break... you'd rather die than get a superior education without useless and potentially devastating distractions? OK. Socialization in a diverse context is highly overrated. I've always thought the whole "you are forced to deal with all kinds of people" thing was complete bull*censored.2.0*, and it is. So you're forced into difficult situations...ok...and that's going to help you deal with them, how? You either know how to act in difficult social situations or you don't. Often it's an intuitive thing. I agree, there are definitely aspects that are learned, but in what way does homeschooling impair socialization? It's not like you live in a bubble and never deal with *censored.1.3*s.

This whole side of the argument is hilarious, by the way. Not saying you're using it, but I read some posts here that echo that sentiment, and I've heard it a million times in real life. My rebuttal is: "So you're saying you want to spend 6+ hours in a classroom so that you have more opportunities to deal with *censored.1.3*s?"

I don't get this. So you admit to being a product of the public education system? What happened to being, y'know... you?

I agree with Bulerias. Homeschooling is effective, and don't give me the whole "You need other people..." crap. In most every state (that allows homeschooling), there's a "coalition", if you would, of other homeschoolers that get together during the week/weekend. THere are all kinds of opportunities for social interaction that are not just confined to school.

Also, even though you still have distractions in Private School, they are better handled and better controlled because of the incentive.
