Hiking is a unique experience for every individual. Some go to camp out under the stars, others go to track down elusive creatures such as the bigfoot (otherwise known as a hairy dude who is just good at social distancing). But what will you bring to survive in the great outdoors?

How to Play 🗻

  • Using Harvey's Photo Studio, create an outfit for your island rep/character that suits your idea of a hiking or camping trip. Next to your character, place 5 items that you would bring on your trip. In your submission post, explain your outfit and item choices in a few sentences. Your overall theme for your trip is up to you - whether you wish to go on a conventional hike or embark on specific activities - feel free to get creative!
  • You do not need to create a full scene for this photo shoot - your submission will be accepted as long as we can clearly see your outfit and what 5 items you would bring.
  • You do not need to list every single item of clothing you are wearing but you should describe certain clothing items that bring your idea together. You may use custom designs if you wish.
  • You do not need to name the specific item you are bringing but you must explain what everything it is for. Eg. Instead of saying "homework set" you can call it research documents, etc.
  • Your screenshot/photo should be unedited. This includes in-game filters.
  • Do not edit your entry after you have submitted it unless otherwise asked by the event host.
Please submit your entries to this thread by 6:59pm EDT on Sunday August 15th. Late entries will not be accepted.

My hiking trip would be centred around catching summer beetles! I made sure to wear my favourite tacky tshirt and tropical hat to shield me from the sun as I run around chasing bugs. I would bring my trusty net, a cooler to keep my drinks, and a camp stove to cook up a snack. I would bring my scientifically accurate pop up book that tells me what flowers attract with kind of bugs! Lastly, I'd bring my pet beagle along for some exercise.

Question. Is it okay to use custom designs?

Stupid me. It's written right there. :P

First we have the items:

I'd be bringing along my natural bamboo lamp for some warm lighting in the dark of night.
My MCAT textbooks so I can study by the lamplight and adhere to my strict study schedule (my irl test date is coming up soon!).
A grill to roast some of the veggies and berries that we come across while exploring, making everything real juicy for us to enjoy.
A surfboard to enjoy the nearby beach and water by day.
(Night surfing is fun too with the moon's high tide, but you have to watch out for the jellyfish!)
And a telescope to watch the stars. I've been working on identifying different stars and constellations as a hobby, so hop on this chance to study them without the city's light pollution. When I'm not studying for the MCAT, that is :p

A bit about my outfit:

I'm incredibly allergic to mosquito bites. There's lots of swelling and blistering that happens, and it actually gets misdiagnosed by doctors a lot because of how bad things can look sometimes. As such, I've learned to wear long sleeves (layering shirts too, if I have to) and pants wherever I might come face to face with those blood sucking beasts. I also really like jeans for their resilience. With my jeans and boots, I'll be able to properly forage for berries and the like.

You might be wondering why my head is mummified.
Yes to protect against the mosquitos, but also so I always have bandages on hand should anyone get hurt
You can't always control what'll happen when you're camping, but you can always come prepared

I'm not a very sporty person, but when I do go on a hike my favorite thing to do is to take nice pictures of anything that catches my eye.
For this hike in particular, I imagine getting to a nice panoramic spot at dawn, taking my best photos with my trusty camera and when the sun is up, sit down to relax and have breakfast.

So I would want to bring a towel to lay on and an inflatable pillow to be more comfortable and in case I feel like taking a nap since I sure would have to wake up super early to get there at a such time lol. Then, of course, there's my coffee in a thermos and a few tasty pastries. I would also bring a camera stand so that I can take pics of myself too.

As for my outfit, there's my camera around my neck to take pics while actually hiking, some good socks so that I don't get blisters, shades for when the sun is high up and a cute flower in my hair that I would find along the way and probably photograph before doing anything else :)

I am going hiking in the snowy mountains in search of the elusive yeti! Obviously I gotta bundle up before I make the journey up the mountain, so I dressed warm, with a vintage puffy top so I fit in with any boomer climbers I encounter. My sick ski shades complete the look, that look being I’m cold and my eyes hurt from the snow.

I brought along a sleeping bag for the cold nights; some protein powder with a shaker bottle to make mad gainz on my trek; a container of antifreeze for the cold weather because I don’t really understand how antifreeze works; a snow globe in case I get lost so I can remember what snow looks like; and a framed villager photo of Hans so when I meet some yetis they know I’m already tight with one of them!

I’m all prepared for my adventure filled camping trip. I’ve taken a sweet weekend getaway to a secret fishing spot.

I’m bringing along my sleeping bag and tent
(I don’t want to sleep outside or in the floor). Sometimes special catches don’t happen the same day, and I’m ready to stay the night.

I also brought along my cooking pot and lucky fishing rod ( to eat all the fish I catch). Of coarse, my lantern as well ( sometimes the fish bite better at night, and I have to be able to see them).

I’m wearing my cosy fishing vest, to be able to catch all these fish I’m certainly going to find. The boots are so that I don’t get any water on my toes. I’m also wearing some camo pants (I’ve been told they help when trying to hide from fish).

I’m ready to become a fishing pro!

I'm sorry, I won't be able to win points for the team here, I still don't have the game 😭
(I thought we didn't need the game for that event)

I tried making the outfit both comfortable and practical for a hiking trip. Layering is important when hiking, and the hip-wrap tee reminds me of a long-sleeved flannel shirt or sweater wrapped around the waist. Cargo pants are durable and have deep pockets for storing items. I tend to over pack in real life, so the Traveler's backpack seems accurate.

The items that I would bring are a 1-person tent in case I have to take a nap or seek shelter, food and drinks for the trip, a notepad and writing devices for both leisure or mapping, an emergency kit, and a lantern....in case I accidentally sleep until nighttime.

I've always been a fan of camping, but this is my first solo trip! I'm wearing my camo hoodie to help me blend in and feel one with nature, my shorts for mobility and lots of pockets - in case I find any cool rocks I want to take home. My cowboy hat and shades will keep the sun away - hopefully that is the case, I really don't want rain.

For my supplies, I knew I had to bring along the basics - my sleeping bag and lantern. I also packed my wetsuit - that and my boots will come in handy, in case I need to cross any deep water. My picnic basket contains my thermos with coffee, as well as some food, including the cake my grandma made me for good luck. Finally, I brought along my battery radio - so I don't get lonely. I just hope it doesn't attract any unwanted visitors... Uh oh, what was that noise?

I always bring my phone everywhere, regardless if I have signal or not.

I have a dauchsund beagle mix dog that loves the outdoors and going on walks, so the puppy plushie is to represent her.

The cupcake and candy are little snacks that I can enjoy along the way. Though I bring muffins over cupcakes, that's the closest thing I could find.

The beach towl is for sitting when my dog and I need a rest, while the backpack I use to carry my snacks, drinks, and a towl.

I often like walks more during a light rain shower as it's refreshing, and connects more to me with nature.

So I will wear long sleeve shirts. Tan or pink is typically my go to. Pants are a must if it's raining, and I personally like pink shoes, but I just use regular shoes instead of hiking shoes.

My hiking trip would be centered around ghost-hunting in the woods.

I am wearing a boa fleece, explorer shorts, plain cap, rimmed glasses, stretch leggings, trekking shoes and an extra-large backpack. A protective but comfortable gear so I can easily run with ease when I panic, and in case I stumble because I'm not paying attention to where I'm running.

I brought my trusty lantern with me to light the way because it's better than those battery-powered torches that betray you when you need it the most. I also have my camera and laptop with me so I can record evidence of paranormal events or entities in the forest. Then a portable stove so I can cook and boil water. And lastly, my sleeping bag so I have a comfortable place to sleep.

Just because the consolers told us its bed time doesn't mean we have to! It's not like we can sleep during such an exciting trip anyways! Instead, join me on a stargazing adventure while we map out the various constellations in the sky! As the guide of this adventure, I, Consoler Karma, will be wearing a starry dress to fulfill my role as guide of the stargazing adventure as well as a pair of comfy Pleather shoes as we will have to do quite a bit of walking to get to the best stargazing spot!. Just don't tell the actual consolers. Just in case anyone gets hurt or hungry, I also am bringing my star pochette full of all the necessary supplies!

With the aid of this handy telescope, we will be able to not only see the stars with our own eyes, but we can also get a closer look at them in high definition! I also bought us a nifty book that shows up where all the constellations will be in the sky and at what times of the night! I'm sure we don't all want to be standing the whole time though, so with the help of a few other campers, we brought a bench for us to sit on while watching the stars. Finally I bought a cute little star-shaped lamp from home to help light our surroundings so we aren't working entirely in the dark!

What's that? What is that statue of a Tarantula doing there? I'm glad you asked! You know how there is another cabin in the mountains with us right? Well, once we are done stargazing, its time for some pranks while everyone is asleep! We can place this right outside their camp tent and give them a scare before they wake up! What's a summer camping trip without a few pranks after all!

i made sure to dress warm for my chilly hike to the bell tree glaciers. my rep is keeping cozy by the fire in an oversized parka, knit hat with earflaps to keep my ears and head warm, a giant hiking pack for all of my belongings, some fuzzy nordic socks over leggings to keep my legs warm, and hiking boots of course so i dont lose my footing

i packed all of the essentials: a tent for a comfortable place to sleep, a lantern for light, a warm fire and kettle for hot drinks and food (necessary in cold weather), and a luxury toilet

i decided to trek deep into an unexplored stretch of jungle for this challenge, in search of forgotten relics of the past and other ancient wonders.

what i wore:
-trusty pair of glasses, necessary for identifying ruins and other sightings
-camouflaged gilly hat to bypass potential predators
-trekking boots for easy scaling of uneven terrain
-a backpack
-lightweight yet thermal clothing for maximum mobility: ankle socks layered over a pair of tights to avoid nicks and scratches from the surrounding greenery, t-shirt with optional flannel if it gets chilly, and my favorite pair of jorts

what i brought:
-my trusty recorder to keep a detailed audio diary of any new discoveries made
-every book i own on archaeology and exploration
-portable hammock for when i need to rest on the go
-foldable cart for loose dirt & rocks at excavation sites
-campfire cookware; multi-use. provides food, light, warmth and boiling water among other things

fingers crossed i make it back in one piece, with newfound knowledge that makes the difficult journey more than worthwhile. ~

EDIT: Nevermind, it looks like I've got a weird glitch that "breaks" some of the posted picture, don't know why.

I thought it was a good idea to hunt bigfoot... never thought it would actually appear!

What I wore-
- lots of camo, with a good helmet, in case I had to run and ended up tripping and knocking the noggin.
- good steel toed boots and quality camo pants
- long sleeved shirt (pesky mosquitoes!)
- and of course, a camera...for the evidence!

What I brought-
- my beagle puppy to sniff out bigfoot nesting areas
- my net! In case the opportunity arose to catch a bigfoot
- my research notebook, which contains years of data from past bigfoot searches
- my cooler, which is full of bigfoot bait
- and of course, a shovel! (No restrooms in the forest.....)
