I have a competed house and decided it was time I aimed for the gold exteriors.
I've got a completed Exotic furniture set in each room, with some Rustic knick knacks in each, but I'm still getting the minimum score of $200,000. Is there something crucial I'm missing? Thanks!

You might want to add sets, at least one in each room and at least 3 items of each set.
Masks, paintings, instruments...

Also, you might want to feng shui your items, put the red on the right, the yellow on the left and the green at the bottom. There are more rules but just this basic instruction should help you reach more points.

It helps when you have personal items or achievements in your rooms like trophies, pictures.

If the exterior parts of your house do not match the theme, you will get a low score no matter how good your interior is.

Yep, exactly what Red Cat said, after you get the completed house and need the theme your exterior has to match as well.

Thanks guys, after a bit more research I have indeed spent a fortune and time <sigh> filling my house with harmonious items when the theme is rustic. Outside was always fine.
It turns out the Prima guide swapped the rustic and harmonious items around and therefore most guides on t'net are wrong.
Not to worry I'm gonna sell most of it and start again. Wish me luck

Is it so important the exterior of the house? I'm thinking about getting the gold exteriors too but I've been always too lazy about all the HHA stuff...
