Help with plot resetting?

When I get on the train the cat doesn't ask me the date ?? So how am I to plot reset. Am I missing something

ahh, simple mistake. go to your mayor, set the time to 5:56 or 5:58, just BEFORE 6 am (this is when a new day starts), save and quit, and THEN start your new character!

I just change my DS system time whenever I go forward or back...

You don't even have to do the 6am thing. If you start with a new character it doesn't matter what time of day it is, the plot will show up in a different spot almost every time as long as you don't accidentally load your mayor. The 6am thing has never made sense to me.

If you don't TT and just wait for the next day to roll around(after 6am) then no, you don't need to load and save your mayor at just before 6.
If you invite a villager and want to plot reset them the same in-real-life day, you're going to need the day to switch forward one day for a plot to show. Either by setting the ds clock forward or TTing with your mayor til just before 6 the next day.
