i've actually never gotten scammed! i only trade with friends or through this forum, as i haven't really heard anything good enough about nookazon or discord to make me use them. i like to trade with reputable people, and i find that the feedback system on here really helps!

One day, a kid came to my island, shook a ton of my fruit trees without asking, and was in the process of taking ALL the fruit from them. He had taken about a dozen trees' worth by the time I caught him. I promptly booted him off the island and deleted him from my friend list. I've thankfully since been able to re-grow those trees.

Not in this forum so far. I only got "weird" visitors but they didn't do anything to my island.
I haven't been scammed thankfully, but I had someone steal fruit from me. I try not to leave stuff like diys outside because I worry someone might take them. This person came to my island when I was having people over to get a recipe from one of my villagers. They ran around my island shaking my trees and taking fruit. I caught them taking fruit once and they kind of just froze. I had a single piece of each fruit marking the different trees in my orchard, but I guess this person wanted them. I think they knew they were caught, but it didnt stop them. I ended up taking one fruit and dropping it on a cliff that had no inclines out of curiosity of they would take it. They did, they also hid behind my shop and when I did the ? reaction they just did they laughing one back like we were playing hide and seek or something. Considering it was just fruit and it was months ago now, I don't really mind. It's just that if they asked to have some fruit I would've said yes, but they never even said anything.

Nope! I use the Nookazon discord for trading, and I fence everything in my island off. I haven’t traded villagers before and I don’t participate in the Stalk Market though

yeah, people usually scam for villagers. I have been scammed out of Judy once,
the person took Judy and stalled until it autosaved, then he left, then I tried to disconnect but it autosaved. I got her back though after contacting Nookazon.

I just reported the user and contacted Nookazon and then I went to the person's island about a week later to come get Judy back

That’s super crappy of them, wtf? I’m glad you contacted Nookazon. I’ve heard horror stories on Nookazon’s acnh-discussion about people dropping 600 NMTs during a trade and the other player kicking them out…

No, I've never been scammed, but I only trade here. Plus, I generally do free/equal trades and catalog swaps, so even if they accidentally make a mistake and bring the wrong item or forget something it's not like I'm out any bells or NMT. People are really nice and generally friendly, so I really enjoy trading here. I would never trade on Nookazon or Discord, though, because I've heard horror stories from friends.
Even here, I do get anxious about high-value sales/trades or trading for villagers, though, so I'm holding off on doing any of that yet. But at some point I'm going to want to finish my art gallery and track down my remaining dreamies, so I know I have a loooot of big-ticket trades in my future.

this usually works:
when it says they're leaving, turn off your switch. If it didn't autosave, everything since they arrived will reset. it doesn't always work though

Only in New Leaf, and I hope it never happens again. Someone came to my town and stole my blue roses. Then someone else came over and took my perfect fruit without asking. They gave me their perfect fruit in return, but it didn't make a difference because you could only get perfect fruit of your native fruit and not of foreign fruit.

No, all my trades went smoothly and without any mishaps, but all my trades have been here on this forum. I had one trade that went a little sideways, though. So, in the start of the game i traded with someone here for cherries and posted my code for everyone to see, i think you can see where this is going. Some other person came uninvited but she was really nice. She wanted some of the cherries and she took some but in return left me pears and flower bags, and it happened that my island was lacking them at the time. I would never call it a scam as it ended up in my favor since i got all the fruit and flowers i wanted in one go XD
