Have you ever accidentally messed up a villager's home?

Inspired by another post I saw here, have you ever given a villager some furniture only to heavily regret it later on xD I once gave Merengue an alpine lamp that was customized to green, forgetting it would give green light... it went so horribly with her pink room and her cute little cake display was this really unsettling green shade for maybe a month before I was able to buy it back

To be honest I never really knew that this was a thing until waaay later. Then I started looking up what each of my villager's houses looked like before I ruined their interior and man, I completely f'ed it up.

Oh well I guess that's just the way it is.

The first time I caught an arowana, I sold it to O’Hare without thinking... thankfully I was able to catch another one for the museum later while playing as a side character, but O’Hare kept that first arowana in his house for MONTHS and it annoyed the living daylights out of me XD He wouldn’t let me buy his precious “Ms. Fishly” and it took me forever to get him to finally replace it with a different piece of furniture... I refer to that period as “the arowana incident” now, lol O’Hare has always been pretty notorious for messing up his house a lot XD

I allowed Kiki to buy a fossil at Re-Tail---it took up a large space in her house and she refused to get rid of it for months. D: Thankfully she has a cabana bed there now.

Ms. Fishly xD hahahaha. I've had similar incidents where I sold fishes to villagers without thinking. Lately I've taken to just not visiting their homes so I can avoid seeing the carnage.

I hate rejecting villagers when they want something too I feel terrible. I literally had to put up gyroids for sale at the max price in ReTail so they don't buy anything. Flip and Snake already have their houses messed up -o-

Oooh I didn't think of putting gyroids in re-tail! Huhu yeah sometimes I give in just because it makes them so happy then quickly buy the furniture back the next time I visit their house

Absolutely! When I first started playing, I messed up so many villager's houses. Hazel had a massive fossil in the middle of her house, Lopez ended up with a spherical radar in his house, and Tammi's house was just the worst. I loved her house and I desperately wanted to get my hands on a lot of her exotic furniture pieces, so she ended up with a horrible combination of things like the common chair, modern bed and a steamroller. I would give her anything that matched the size of the item of I wanted in hopes she'd replace it and give me the piece I wanted. I ransacked her lovely home. Afterwards, I felt horrible every time I walked into her house.

Since then I've learned to avoid villagers when I have items in my pockets that I don't want them to have or just say 'no' if it comes to that. And I only take things that I don't want the villagers to have in their homes when I visit. Luckily, I've filled out my catalog now so there's not a whole lot that I want personally and I no longer feel the need to steal from my poor villagers.

ive given clothes i wanted a vvillager to wear tothem, only to have them just display it in their house,,,im upset bc the clothing is still there in a few villagers houses and it does NOT match the theme im currently going for in my town

I’ve gotten a lot better at remembering to give villagers furniture items that would actually look good in their house. But sometimes I gift them shirts to change into and they display them in their house instead. Good thing those kinda items don’t seem to hold much value in their eyes, so I was able to buy them back at some point. But as others mentioned, there are dumb gifts like fish that I gave to them months ago that are still in their houses because they refuse to sell em tldr: never give ur villagers fish lol u_u

Tabby had a really cute themed house, like a ?zen? theme with a hot spring. I gave her a crane game before realizing the layout of her house and it looks so out of place!! I can?t stand going in there now, ahaha

Definitely accidentally selling fossils to villagers... sometimes fish are ok, but it really depends on the house theme!

Gave some of my villagers once fossils, regret it afterwards as they put it at the dumbest spots in
their houses where you can't even walk from the one site to another anymore, as it took so much
space.

I gave Benedict my shaved-ice lamp by accident and now I can NEVER let him leave Targarus! The lamp sits on his cabana table next to his inflatable pool mocking me every time I visit his house.

Lesson: special items are immediately dropped off at home. Do not engage with any villagers on the way.

Yeah, I usually just give them random furniture in my pockets at that time. I just recently started to be more conscious about it and give them items that match the theme of their house

I can relate to this so much!! Gladys and Muffy were some of my first and I ransacked their homes for the rococo and japanese style furniture in my excitement xD Only when Gladys' house was getting near empty did I realize my mistake huhu

Same with everyone who gave their villagers a lot of shirts ; A ; some of my villagers' houses are starting to look more like the Able Sisters' store than like living rooms

Sometimes I wish I could turn back the clock and fix what I have done to Cally's house.

I mailed her two chairs today, hopefully it will fix up her house a bit.

And Sylvana's house, it's fine in a way...but look where she sat her sunflower radio at!
