Has anyone left space for future buildings?

I have so much free space with my island once I'm done with the current plan, so I'm welcome to add more buildings. But, this is one of the things I wish they told us about because I do like to plan ahead for this kind of stuff. I'd be happy with a city option too, and suppose I wouldn't mind additions to existing shops but having only 4 buildings doesn't feel like much (even though the first three only had 4 as well, I'm not sure why I feel this way)

I have zero extra space I think XD I'm still planning on adding 2 player houses, which quite frankly, have no place to go at this moment. I'm trying to condense my plans but it's a lot of trial and error when it comes to moving houses around. So I guess I'll see, once the final house placements are done..

Yeah I don’t think I have too much space either. I guess I have a long area at the top of the map that I can use just incase (it was just a walking path. I still haven’t decided where to place my islander house yet (or the second character that I haven’t done yet). I also feel like my island is a bit small. I keep seeing people’s island and they look super huge! But for some reason the way I terraformed , my villager houses take up 50% of my town. True south are. That part is permanent though. So I’ll see what to do.

When I plan my town out and place buildings and decorations, I don't do it in a manner where I'm giving every single tile a purpose. So I end up with a few extra areas that would make it quite easy to place other buildings as they become released

I have space, but I also didn't intentionally leave specific spots, so my island doesn't look like it has gaps.

I sure have. I have an empty space at my boardwalk, and I built an extra path near my holding pond. And in case if more buildings come, I can clear out some scenic areas for more build

i haven't even figured out what to do with my town loool-

so if they add new shops, i'll figure it out when they're introduced

I didn't plan to leave room but i ended up having room anyway in my town building area but i figured if i need the room i will knock off a layer of my mountain and get rid of one river.

I don't know how you did your villager's yard, but I found that if you put a tree between side by side houses and not a fence it makes their yard look bigger but you can actually shave their yard down some to fit more houses in. Give them shared yard items like a sand box or pool (i like mine having yards). You can have fence behind and infront of the houses though.

I don't know how you did your villager's yard, but I found that if you put a tree between side by side houses and not a fence it makes their yard look bigger but you can actually shave their yard down some to fit more houses in. I made it sort of suburbs style. I boxed them all in with fences. I tried to make it as small as possible , but it’s still huge. Mainly because my small as possible includes me being able to plant a couple of trees inside their box, some flowers and some sort of furniture.

I also have a lot of connecting rivers all around and large paths that I can’t make smaller. My island right now is a bunch of islands inside islands. I don’t know how it got to that point, but I can’t edit it without scrapping the whole thing.

I did at one point but then I went absolutely wild with terraforming and now I don’t. I could always make my park smaller and move some stuff around though!

I left spots free for potential buildings, marked off with the rope fence like they're under construction lol. The only part that's completely planned out is the residential area.

My island has the 2 south river mouths, and I've designated it as the business area. I still have plenty of room there to add more buildings, if/when they become available. At most, I'd have to move some trees and flowers.

I'm in the process of rearranging all of my buildings. And I should have some space after I do that. Right now, my island is a mess. Lol. Also, I would hope that they might actually expand your island if they plan on adding a bunch of new buildings. They must realize that a lot of people put a lot of work into their islands, and wouldn't wish to dismantle an entire area just for a new building.

I hope that if “extra buildings” are added, they’re add them in the form of 2nd floors. I already kinda set my island up based on the stuff that we can have on our island. If there are more building, I’m gonna have to rearrange. I really don’t want to have to do that.

i have! i currently have space for 2-3 other buildings but i haven’t really planned beyond that aha

I'm no where near done with my island so I'd have room. My residential area is mostly complete and that's about it. I've been playing around an hour to two most days so I haven't gotten the grind in yet. I still have work though.

My island is divided roughly into thirds, and one third is the 'city' area; I’d really like some extra buildings for it!

I kinda just threw them wherever, since I knew I could relocate them at any point in time. The exception is Nook's, which I knew I wanted to put near the airport for turnip selling / easy access for visitors if they ever wanted to buy things from my shop.
