Has anyone else tried this to move out villagers?

I saw the video of how to make villagers move out on youtube. I'm not a huge fan of time traveling, and so I want to try the second character blank-slate strategy of moving out villagers. Apparently, if the player only introduces his or herself to the unwanted villager(s), one at a time one will ask to move out in about a week. The player must only talk to them once or else the villager will be put in the friendship ladder. I have ten villagers, so I'm at the "villagers moving out state". Can anyone tell me if this worked for them, if they tried the second player strategy? Or is this moving out thing totally random?

It's all totally random. I have a cycle town, and I talked to each of my villagers exactly once with a second character in alphabetical order, and TT'd forward one day until I had reached 2 months, and the first villager that left had a letter that was succeeding right after the first one ...

So it is random, then? Huh, I really thought there was a formula for villagers deciding to leave. From the video that I saw, it said that the game doesn't want you to get pictures of the villagers, so they'll trigger the moving prompt. Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jIuEm8Bq9I

Ugh this video again.

There's a few videos out there with a ton of views that look totally "legit" but they're honestly a load of BS. This is just a newbie trap, sorry.

And trust me, I used to believe in this video when I first saw it.. I was like WOW, cool, so this is how it works.

It doesn't.

yeah, it's random

I've both talked to and ignored villagers with varying results (sometimes either way they move almost instantly, other times they take forever to move)

also, the guy honestly doesn't even experiment enough to have a legitimate theory on how it works (3 groups of 2 villagers each does not make for credible testing)

Aw. Well I guess it'll happen randomly then. I want to move out Camofrog and Bam, and I'm on the fence with Bob. Maybe I'll let him stay. At least I know it's just random then.

My theory is that he heard about this "method" so he made a video acting like he tried it. Some things are just a coincidence, also considering he only tested this with two villagers if he did. I really dislike this video, because it leads you into believing a load of BS and it takes the fun out of your game. Ignoring your villagers really isn't all that fun.. and yeah it made my game a lot less fun and was a huge waste of time when I did this.

I'm only ignoring all my villagers right now because I'm trying to kick CRANSTON out so Kiki can move in whenever I can get her (and its faster than talking to them all imo, though normal gameplay I'll talk to them and everything)

Though if I've cycled for a decent amount of time, I'll talk to one until they're sick of me to see if there's rumors of a villager moving that I missed so I can tell them NOPE.
