Has ANYONE actually gotten a good gift from Wisp?

First I got a trash can and then I got some other weird thing. Does asking for an expensive thing actually work? Is it even real? He gives me the most random and weird things.

It's better to ask for something new. Asking for anything expensive never really guarantees anything good, since Wisp himself says that he has no idea about the value of the items he gifts. The best item I have ever gotten was a retro gas pump, and its retail value is only 2700 bells.

All other times I have received were flooring or wallpaper. none of which were interesting.

I usually don't bother with him anymore, I think it will only be valuable when my catalog is a bit fuller. I did notice he gives me garbage when I ask for something expensive, and yes, he does admit that, but at the same time, the tedious task of finding all his pieces for something minor I don't have is not very appealing right now, so I think when I have a lot more stuff in my catalog and there are a smaller amount of things I am still actively looking for, it'll be worth it to talk to him for 'something new'.

I think he's given me a few things I liked, but he also gives me wallpaper or flooring all the time, and I don't really care about collecting those anymore. I pretty much ignore him now.

He gave me the connecting part of the box sofa in a color that matched the corner I had from a tree drop, so that was actually a great gift.

Nope! Like others have said it's better to ask for something new because even if you don't like it it adds to your catalogue. I remember reading somewhere what the max selling price for items he gives you when you choose "something expensive" was.. but I forgot and now I can't find the source.

10,000 bells. It's in the official guide. So it's really a kind of useless option to ask for the expensive thing. The new one will always be a new catalog item, but it's totally random. I agree with other posters that it's a lot of work and not worth it until you are close to completing your catalog.

Hey trash can is a great gift!
I've got about 15 in various locations all over my island so I can dump those annoying twigs that fall out of the trees and get rid of any weeds/boring flowers that have spawned, without having to go too far.
