Harry Potter

Question, where do you actually find these sets? I'd like to buy them too!
I saw previews of upcoming Lego sets on YouTube. The new batch of Lego Harry Potter sets won’t be released until January. The line typically has releases at the beginning of the year, around May or June, and October with a few sets being released in between each major release date.

Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light" from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

I bought the new Lego Harry Potter Escape from Privet Drive set. I’m so glad that it is reasonably affordable and to finally have a Hagrid mini figure for my Hogwarts Castle without spending so much money on his hut. Now the only recurring teacher I’m missing is Trelawney. I’m not too worried about missing Slughorn or the DADA professors minus Umbridge, Lockhart, and Snape.

I have been playing Hogwart's Legacy, and the Sorting Hat gave me Ravenclaw. I stuck with it since it made sense to me!

I did the quiz mentioned above by @RoxiePico and @Ginny Potter and I got Slytherin and Hedgehog as my patronus. I'm not sure how to feel about this.

I don't understand how one can still decide to show publicly they're supporting the Harry Potter franchise when it is well known that the author is against basic human rights. I understand loving the franchise for a long amount of time and having it be a part of your childhood, even loving the original trio, but to purposefully ignore what is going on behind the scene is something I don't understand. Even the original trio stands against J.K Rowling.

Recently J.K Rowling funded an anti-trans woman organisation, the J.K. Rowling Women’s Fund, which she plans to fund with the revenue from the new HBO show. Her influence in the UK is not negligible.
You can't separate the art from the artist, especially if she's still alive. You can't bc the artist always puts themselves into their art, their art has a direct impact onto the world around them, and the artist then has an impact onto the world due to the influence they gain from the popularity of their art.

Ok I'm going to share something. Harry Potter was written by her. But it was long before all of what she's been saying now. To us who are fans of Harry Potter. It was either our escape of the real world or something similar.

Exactly. I support the stuff that was made before JK went off the deep end and treat it as a completely separate entity. I have done the same with Scott Adams and Dilbert or more specifically the animated sitcom that was made in the 90s. I didn’t agree with what he said and did after he showed his true colors but I also enjoyed the animated show a lot. I mean lots of creators turn out to be truly awful people behind closed doors and the fact of how bad they were eventually got out but people still support the things that they’ve written or made. Dr Seuss greatly disliked children, Ronald Dahl was extremely racist and antisemitic, and Maurice Sendak wrote some pretty disturbing things for kids.

Let me ask you this. If your favorite author make the series that you really like and you support it then 20 years from now the author say something you disagree with. Would that change how you feel about the series you like?

Yes actually, I'd feel betrayed that I've been admiring someone whose value doesn't align with what I stand for, because I realise as an adult that what I choose to support has an impact beyond my personal enjoyment. It can be an author, a musician, any artist that has an influence on the world around me. There is a musician I had to stop supporting recently for their new found political beliefs.

And I'd like to point out that it is more than just "saying something" one can disagree with, she's actively having an impact on the lives of real people.

Listen, for me. I can separate the two. I love Harry Potter but I don't agree with the author and what's she's doing.

One thing I like talking about Harry Potter is not just how evil the villains are, but also how much they’re hatable characters. For instance, Voldemort is the most evil character of them all, who has no redeeming qualities. But in terms of how hatable he is, he’s not very high among the list, since there are many more that tend to be more hatable.

I haven’t taken the house quiz, but I can safely say that I’m in the Hufflepuff house. I don’t go by personality quizzes since they may ask irrelevant questions. I go by my instincts.

You are entitled to your own opinions. I'm not saying you're right or wrong.

Yes it is hard to separate the two but for those of us who are long time fans of the Wizarding World and Harry Potter. We're able to separate it because we live in those world with our imagination and the books including the movies. I escape the world by reading books and that helps me.

I don't necessarily agree with how she's doing nor what's she's saying. Nor do I accept it. I believe everyone has the same rights as everyone else. There should be equal but that's not how it is in the world. I made this thread to discuss anything related to Harry Potter. Not to the author

Hi everyone,

Just a friendly reminder to please keep the discussion on topic. Everyone is welcome to share their thoughts and perspectives, whether they enjoy Harry Potter or feel unable to support the franchise for humanitarian reasons. At the same time, not everyone needs to share the same opinion, so please avoid turning comments into a debate or back-and-forth, and avoid veering into politics, which are no longer permitted under TBT rules.

Thanks for your understanding!

I got my older brother a movie scratch off poster. (You watch a movie and scratch it to reveal a photo after you finish). There are 100 different movies on it. I have one too.

One of the movies on his poster is the first Harry Potter film. It's not on my poster. I've never seen any of the movies nor have I ever read the books so I thought it was interesting.

He loved the gift which made me quite happy.

That's an interesting take to be honest

I am not against anyone whose in a different house than me. However I actually took a quiz to see which character I was similar to. And it actually turn out to be Harry Potter
