Yes. It has happened. No mega hardcore games announced for DS? Imagine series taking over? Another Bratz game? OH NOEZ! WHAT IS HAPPENING!
The world will be casualized and we will all end our games with z like bratz, ponyz, kittyz, dogz, catz and so on!
NINTENDO PLEASE RESCUE US!

Nintendo has put all their efforts into the Wii nowadays....they still sometimes occasionally crank out a good DS game.....

im selling ma DS is the first one it came, but i just dont see a good game and with the money im buying more wii games!! :D

Yeah I have a red and black DS and they are rare over here and it'll be sad to see it go but i must.
I'd rather have the cash towards a more used wii game or something.

Hardcore died when First Person shooters and MMOs took over the gaming industry.
How did MMO's take over the gaming industry, pray tell?
Go to your local electronics store, at the computer game section, how many aren't MMOs?

But they didn't take over the hardcore industry. Far from it.

People will spend all day doing nothing but leveling up they're character and doing quests on a MMO, IMO MMO's are the most hardcore thing to ever come out, people spend 24/7 on WoW.

...no.
'Hardcore' does not equal 'obsession'. There's no skill behind WoW. There's time spent, yes, and there' knowledge you get over time. But other than that, it's a slow paced game.

Pokemon Platinum is coming out, I don't understand why everyone is giving up their DS's at the moment. I know I know, The DS is like a snack to 3rd parties. There are some good DS Games coming at or have recently come out. Chronno Trigger for one. The FF Remakes look good as well.

2011- Nintendo releases it's new groundbreaking console which allows you to go into a virtual reality and be in the game, however the graphics have had to revert back to N64 due to the systems lack of memory because the new console is handheld!
EDIT: O crap wrong thread. This was supposed to go in the DS dying thread, Dunno how it got here, whatever....

hmm.. i guess you can be a hardcore wow player (by playing a lot) but wow is not a hardcore game (because it's repetitive and slow).

i would say hardcore games (the games played by hardcore players) are diverse and complicated, with a lot to do and a lot of dedication to accomplish the various tasks. a hardcore gamer probably has a lot of games under his/her belt and is able to adapt easily to new game genres and mechanics.
