I had been looking forward to Halloween in AC:NL since probably August or September, when I first saw a video someone made and put on YouTube of their town during Halloween. I got the game in June of this year, and so it would be my first AC Halloween. It looked like so much fun!

I let the outdoor villagers ping me to get info on what could scare the other villagers, and though that it'd be like a giant logic grid puzzle, and I love those.

But what it turned out was that every single freak'n villager outside kept telling me the same facts over and over again about one or two villagers. I have ten villagers in my main town, so this was not helpful at all. Even after I would scare the villager they constantly mentioned (in my case, they kept going on and on about Purrl for the first half, and then when they switched, they kept talking about Lolly), they STILL only talked about that one villager.

Trying to figure out by process of elimination was a pain in the butt and hecka time consuming, and in order to just enjoy the holiday a little, I wound up looking it up (I hate doing that, btw). Then, I spent the rest of the time running from the villagers (and sometimes getting ambushed upon leaving a house or in a pincer between two of them) to try and find Jack and give him lollipops.

Which was also annoying.

I had a lot more fun running around without a mask on and letting them put a pumpkin head on me than anything else.

So, I was hugely disappointed. Oh, I still did what I had to in order to get the creepy set, but it was more of a chore than something enjoyable. I was also looking forward to puzzling out with a grid logic puzzle who was afraid of what, but it becomes guess-work if only one or two villagers are talked about at any given time.

I was wondering if anyone else who had their first AC:NL Halloween was also disappointed, or if you found it fun.

I've done it multiple times already to get stuff for myself and others

and yeah I've found it pretty enjoyable as a whole

all the events that aren't just "talk to Isabelle for item" require a bit of actual work, but it didn't feel too tedious, like say... Festivale

plus I enjoyed Solid Snaking my way through town when trying to avoid villagers

Since I got the game 10 days before Halloween last year, it was my first holiday, and I was so confused by it since I didn't wi-fi with anyone at the time, but since it has been over a year now, I get Halloween on ACNL, but it got frustrating that the villagers kept talking to me every second, so I have tried stealthily avoiding them (which doesn't work in some areas)

The ironic part is that, irl, Halloween is my favorite holiday

I found it fairly fun. I won't say it was a blast, but I had a good enough time. I just tried the masks and whichever one worked and got me the lollypop was the one I dropped outside the house for my alternate character.

Yeah, sometimes the ambushes were getting tedious, but if you can run a bit they can't catch you and give up. But sometimes you can't see them and they get you no matter what. Lol! Also, I kept confusing Jack with the short villager with the yellow pumpkin head because to me the colours look the same so I kept getting Marshal to game off with.

Overall I enjoyed Halloween and will play it again. The only thing that bothered me much was the fact that I had to save and restart to get Annabelle to be in her house for a change. I had to try four or five times to catch her at home.

I am playing it again tonight, actually, because I want to try and get some patched clothes and a jack in the box.

But yeah, I agree with you about the annoying stuff. I'm just glad I wasn't TOO annoyed. :)

Halloween has always been my absolute favourite holiday and it is also my wedding anniversary, so that probably helped me enjoy the NL stuff a whole lot more.

I've actually never played the Halloween event & I'm debating on going back to tomorrow to celebrate, but from the videos I've seen it looks like fun.

Like most other holidays in ACNL, I felt that Halloween was a bit of a chore. If you want to get EVERY item being given out, it takes a while. That being said, the creepy series is amazing, so it's worth it. I also really enjoyed scaring my neighbours with the masks. :D

Your reference just won this entire thread.

Anyways, this was my first ACNL Halloween. I've had more excitement doing other things in video games, but I didn't see this event as a chore. I appreciate that it was different from other holidays where you just automatically get an item in the mail, or going to the plaza to talk to Isabelle. I also like that you can participate in this event as little or as much as you want to, whereas with Isabelle holiday items, you could only get as many items as you had characters in the game. The Halloween event suited ACNL as a whole.

If I wanted something more engaging or cerebral, I have my Professor Layton and Ace Attorney games for that.

Eh not really fun considering the immense amount of preparation that I needed and the monotony of finding Jack. It can take quite some time. Once is more than enough for me.

I was really looking forward to it as well.
But once it actually got here, it was..meh. My head and eyes hurt from the long day and trying to scare villagers to get furniture while protecting my precious clothing was just too stressful. I really looked forward to the music aspect too and that was too repetitive tbh.

i think halloween couldve been better (idk how)
really, i only did it for the patched shoes so i could dress up as CODEC stuff and even then i didnt get all the creepy items haha. THERE'S ALWAYS NEXT YEAR.

What would make the AC holiday perfect is if hal of the vilagers are trick or treaters, and the other half give out candand you can actually trick or treat.:3

Last year I didn't enjoy it so much, because I was trying to collect all the patch items, all the pumpkin heads, and all the creepy furniture all at the same time! It was kind of stressful, lol. I also hated having to go around my town and find Jack each and every time (and ducking to avoid getting pinged by trick or treating villagers), I found that so annoying, why can't he just stand at the plaza like most of the other holiday NPCs?!! So there was ALOT of soft resetting in Halloween 2013. But this year, because I had all the sets, I enjoyed it way more, I spent over an hour just doing it for fun ^_^
