Growing Bell Trees

My new town's map has left me with quite the front yard, enough to plant a bunch of bushes and trees. I really want trees to spruce things up, but instead of regular trees I opted to go for bell trees.



Now, if I've read wikis correctly, the number of bells you bury with the golden shovel increases the chance of trees blooming, right? I originally planted 30k bags, but they grew into regular trees. This time around, I used 99k bags. Is there any other way to increase the chance of growing a bell tree such as fertilizer or certain flowers? (As you can see Jacob's Ladders are also a major design around the trees)​

The number of bells you plant determines the likelihood of a bell tree growing. For example, 30k bells only has a 30% chance of growing. 99k has a 99% chance of growing. Also, you can only plant one bell tree a day. No matter how much you plant, only one will sprout money. So you'll have to grow your trees one at a time.
