For the past year or so I've been really on and off with AC, but it's been hurting my villagers a lot (rip biskit). Is there a good way to somehow time travel or easily keep villagers hanging around? I don't feel like getting on and pinging every villager until I get the moving one every three days. :(

You can't be lazy and expect no one to move out. If you want to keep villagers, you must talk to them.

Myeah, I figured that'd be the case. It just bugs me that I gotta keep getting on and pinging moving villagers when I haven't played in two months, especially if they're sick or hanging around the museum. :o

Instead of checking for pings you can tell by villager conversation . If a villager talks about rumors then it usually means nobody is moving.

As someone else who takes long breaks from Animal Crossing, I would recommend you make a document and keep a record of the last time you played. Update the document every time you play with the date and time of when you save and quit. When you feel like playing the game again, just open up your document and time travel back to the last day played using the in-game clock, not the 3DS one. As long as you time travel back to the exact day, the game will think it is actually the same day. As such, no one will move out.

But yeah, as the others have said, you do have to put in a little work by talking to your villagers and looking for pings.
