Glitch for multiple divers... anyone else have this happen

Hey Everyone,

I had a group of friends come over to dive and catch sea creatures and we stumbled upon a really major and super annoying glitch.

Believe what happened was one person was diving for a creature and then another swam over her. Then she became stuck underwater and couldn't come back up or move. The game wouldn't allow anyone to enter or exit, and the only thing we could do was have the girl stuck underwater close her game so the game says "Someone quietly left". Everyone ended back up on my island except the girl that closed her game.

This really impacts the gaming experience. Has it happened to anyone else before?

But in my case, they did eventually come back up.

I wonder if this can happen in offline multiplayer mode. This is the first I've heard and seen of this.

My friend was stuck in the diving view like the camera view from above... she didn't end up coming back up at all

I'm not sure, it's definitely weird because this didn't happen until after a while of them being on my island. When they first got there, they would come up after catching the creature and have that "look what I caught" moment, but then they got stuck underwater "looking in their pockets". I don't have anyone to play offline with, but it would definitely be interesting to see if something happens.

This was my view and I asked my friend bout it and they said it looked normal on their end... I wonder if the amount of people on the island influences this... also a side note, this was recorded BEFORE the 'maintenance' they did recently.

Maybe it is the number of guests you had. I think I had minimum 5 in my town when this happened... Might have even been 6. They were saying there was massive lag, which might have allowed for this to happen

I suppose I could try this with my brother. I'm not sure if he'd be up to see this glitch happen.

Honestly it could be the server so Uffe there's a chance nothing might happen if you play locally... but this is something I'm unsure of.
I agree with you kcwyeung, I feel like the # of guests plays a role in this... which sucks if you're hosting an event or just trying to have fun on your island with friends/

I sometimes have a lot of people over at my island cuz I'm in the southern hemisphere, but first time I've had issues that affected people trying to come or leave the island. But hilarious that someone is stuck underwater and "drowning"

Honestly, that sounds like the game is struggling to keep up when you have a lot of people over and you are trying to do this over the internet. I was on an island for the fishing tourney with 4 other people and things started behaving weirdly after a while. Like a grasshopper floating on the water and not being able to fish.

This is probably the same thing that happens when you are trying to dig up something and you have people over and your character spins the shovel for a bit.

Nintendo is terrible at network play so I'm not surprise that stuff like this can happen. All you can do is report it to Nintendo and there's nothing the player base can do anything to help you fix this.

Something similar happened to me when I was visiting my cousin's island to dive! He would go to catch a creature, but it would look like he was stuck under water putting something in his pockets. It took a few minutes, but he would always come back up. On his screen, everything was normal though

Oh yeah, it happened to me and I had like 3-4 visitors over. I could luckily still type on the Nintendo app, so I just said I drowned, lol.

But I just waited a bit and I finally resurfaced. It was kind of scary to be frozen for a bit.

There's instances when I have guests over and you see them zip through walls. Weird glitchy stuff than a bug.
