Gifs? Screenshots?

I've always wondered how people made gifs of animal crossing. I heard you have to take like a ton of screenshots at once and then you send them to your computer, then you edit them with Photoshop. But I don't know if that is the proper way to do it, and it seems like that would take such a long time just for a few seconds. There are so many of them on tumblr so there are a ton of people who have done that multiple times just for a gif?

Also how do people get their screenshots (not gifs) so clean and in better quality? I tried to upload a screenshot once and it was in really pixelated compared to others (._.)

make sure the noise reduction is set to the highest
as far as gifs go, i feel like it would be easier to use a capture card then create the gif from whatever you've recorded via capture card
