Definitely the ability to move houses and decorate the interiors of your animals' homes without the app.

Someone had this idea of having the leaves fall in your town during the fall in a similar manner the cherry blossom petals did in spring. I like that idea too.

Maybe more things to do in the winter and fall. I don't know, I just feel like there wasn't too much going on during those seasons. Maybe have more things added in during those times.

An upgrade to houses to make it more than just decorating, something to want you to actually go inside houses once the decorating is done.

I would possible suggest mini-games to play in houses. Cleaning, cooking, maybe even video games. They obviously wouldn't be the NES games from the original game as Nintendo doesn't want to cut out any potential Virtual Console games. If anything, just make up some arcaded themed mini-games just like the gamepad mini-games in Splatoon.

Also, when a villager moves in and they talk about unpacking, have an option to help them unpack. It could be puzzle type mini-game which on completion gives a boost to the friendship between the player character and the villager.

More dialogue trees is definitely needed. New Leaf was a step in the right direction (especially over that mess that was City Folk). Almost two years of playing New Leaf and I am still seeing new dialogue trees for old villagers. Expand on that even more, make each villager almost completely unique while obviously still retaining those base personality traits.
A suggestion for this could be relying off those base stats each villager has, like their information about their life that shows up around the April Fool's event. Instead of having that information be locked until a specific date for an event, make it so that information can be told to the player whenever.
This would give each villager a unique feeling and also test the player to see if they're paying attention to what the villagers are saying.

ALSO, LET US PUT PATHS IN FRONT OF DOORS

Finally, if they're going to keep up the mayor thing. Make it so the mayor can choose where houses can be located.

Also adding this in; how about hoods? Like all the jackets and such have hoods you can pull over your head or something.

For the poll, I need a bigger map, and bigger town spaces.

For my ideas, I would like to see rollerskates, a black starry sky that appears at 1am but rarely and a pirate ship owned by a crab that you can play minigames and earn prizes if you reach the certain amount of points you need. You get to pick the minigame, play it and you get a prize if you did good. Then you get sent back home.

I would love space outside my house to decorate with furniture so we don't have to make a faux "sunroom". I want a playground or a backyard patio!

I agree with pretty much everything that has been said, but oh my god let me visit my own dream town! I wish I could go back and see my old home and old town and talk to all my old villagers :(

I like a lot of the previous ideas. I also wouldn't mind more house customization, like where to place the doorway to the next room, or even changing the shape of the room so that they're not always square.

Ultimately though I think I just want to be able to tell villagers where they can and can't move in, and being able to place more pwp's. 30 just doesn't seem like enough sometimes. Also more variety in pwp's.

I also wish we could put more bushes/trees in a 7x7 area. I have no issues with how there can't be more than 12 in a connecting row, I can work with that. But sometimes I need more than 16 bushes in an area for the sake of lining my wonky paths. -sigh-

I can't decide if I want more villagers or not. Sometimes 10 seems like a lot, but at the same time there are so many great villagers out there and I can't have all of them in my town at once. XD

Oh, a better way to trade items/bells between players would also be nice. =/ Dropping everything on the ground is time consuming in some cases, and some people also don't have the room for it due to paths and bushes and the like.

I'd like to have more space. It feels too cramped the way it is now, especially when you're trying to find room for a project like a park or more pwp's.

A bigger map absolutely. And being able to put PWP's on the beach. Also PWP's just for the beach, eg beach hut, ice cream stand, beach table and chairs and beach towels. I know you can put themed items in a room in your house but its not the same thing. Larger versions of the beach items to put outside would be nice too! I like the idea of having an outside patio that someone else suggested as well. Putting them inside a house is just not as realistic as a proper garden area.

Instead of the NES video games, like in the original. We could have any NES videogame we've purchased from the VC. That'd be awesome.
Nobody's gonna be happy if there's aliens by the looks of it.

I of course voted bigger town. It would be cool if the town slowly expanded as you progressed further. Like maybe once you reached perfect town status for the first time you received an option to somehow make your town a bit larger and then have more animals move in.

I also of course want MORE FURNITURE. I feel like there could never be too much (although completing the catalogue without doing internet trades and such would be near impossible). I think they should create furniture bundles of some kind that are sold eventually when the shop has been upgraded a few times. Then they could sell a few items that are made to be displayed in the same room together. Not necessarily items of the same set. But, for example, the cute little white and blue pots that are different shapes and sizes inside Katrina's tent; It would be cool if you could purchase little bundles like that together.

Also, this is such a small feature but still something that NEEDS to happen: TRANSPARENT BACKGROUNDS FOR CUSTOM DESIGNS!!! Imagine the beautiful path designs people could create if we had the option of creating transparent pixels in the designs.

Also, as others have stated, a method of deciding where villagers homes are located once they move in. I don't think that would happen ever. It feels like that's just part of Animal Crossing.

tl;dr: just look at the bolded words

I think that villager conversation should be based on personality AND villager species. If I talk to a lazy tiger ha should mention something about him being a tiger or something related to him being a tiger

Voted for running your own shop, that'd be a fun way to earn bells and also being able to choose where new villagers put their houses too, new places to visit perhaps, besides Tortimer Island.

Of the poll choices, I would want a bigger map and more town space. What I personally would like to see, but will never see is the villagers having needs--like energy, hunger, etc. like they do in the Sims; and there being more purpose to the furniture besides decoration. That'll never happen because that would be changing Animal Crossing from what Animal Crossing has always been; and it'd probably complicate things. So...other things I'd like that are more feasible:
  • more storage room and each dresser/wardrobe=separate storage
  • more design save slots
  • more customizable furniture & more color choices
  • more furniture
  • make, drink, store [in a refrigerator or something] coffee, tea, juice, etc. at home; and same thing with food.
  • job making food and serving beverages at Brewster's (since he doesn't know how to cook); different results with different ingredients used and how they are prepared; different recipes and make your own recipe option
  • more things to collect for the museum: books (that can be read, stored, used as decor at home)--classics or histories, historical artifacts (I'd love to see some American Civil War artifacts)
  • more cultural objects/themes: I'd like to see something that resembles the Hanging Gardens; maybe flags of different countries/regions (including Palestine's)
  • more personality types for villagers--for example: shy
  • turn your designs into clothing (and not need to have the pattern saved)
  • more rooms for your house
  • HHA score (if there is a HHA) being permanent once you reach the score that is required to complete the challenge or unlock all of the benefits/rewards

That's all I can think of right now.

So I think I wrote about this else where but hey why not!
New trees for your plaza,
the normal sapling, a cedar tree, maybe a willow tree, a tall redwood.

New events;
playing island games with your villagers.

Go underground in a cave for gems and metals, maybe stumble across Resetti's family. :P

Mayor options:
house placing, determined by those old little notes shaped as a house in pervious games.
Able to unlock PWPs by researching them or buying "blueprints" for a different number of bells.

Character creation:
I don't want to bring up race, but every game it's only been white audience, time to grow up and allow us to create our own character with different eyes, hair, skin, noses, etc. Maybe even no eyes, like Coco from Gamecube.
