So I just discovered Frank Zappa... yes, your eyes deceive you not, it's Bulerias posting about rock music. :P

Holy... this guy is amazing. And crazy. I wish I'd known about him earlier. Any fans out there?

Also checking out King Crimson, prog rock group from the 60s... WOW. What the heck happened to modern rock music? THIS was real music... the modern rock/pop you hear nowadays is what discouraged me from exploring the genre at all, aside from The Beatles and a few other artists, but this stuff is great!

You know what's insane, though? Frank Zappa's stuff sounds eerily similar to music by Brazilian composer Hermeto Pascoal. In fact, the latter was called "the Frank Zappa of Brazil"... and I doubt they knew about each other, but Hermeto was born 4 years before Zappa, so they wrote their stuff during the same time period.

Edit - The Grand Wazoo, especially, sounds like something Hermeto would compose...

lol at you geeking out

I've heard some by Frank Zappa. Don't know any names though. Another thing is that can't really stand that pop stuff that's out now. I cringe at the Jonas Brothers.

Haven't heard anything from Zappa, have to give him a listen. Listened to a couple of King Crimson songs and those are great, that's a good band to like.
