Flowers EVERYWHERE- Terra forming challenges

I did try to contain them, but is anyone else struggling with Flowers and terraforming?
It feels overwhelming esp with the shovel breaking and recrafting/buying. I'm not even sure what ones I want to keep yet.I almost regret ever planting flowers at the beginning of the game lol. Is there an easy way of removal I don't know about? ( I don't want people I don't know coming over and digging on my island.)
And has the flowers been like this in other games before?

Yep, I was growing a bunch of hybrids and got rain for 3 days and now my island is 70% flowers. Trying to design some areas that use flowers so I can decide which ones to keep and which ones to trash. I am... not looking forward to dealing with the shovels.

New Leaf flowers also got out of control (bamboo was even worse) but at least you could just pick up the entire flower without a shovel.

omg ME my island is getting devoured by hyacinths, windflowers, and mums--it's getting in the way of my island plans c': i stupidly forgot to fence off my flowers (which were in small flowerbeds) before tt-ing,, and now they've overgrown everywhere

I was just doing more of this tonight. I actually am discovering that I like cleaning up and constructing though. Every time I’m picking up a flower to make space to start building I know it is a step toward more progress.

it's so overwhelming and something in me makes me feel guilty for throwing them out? i know i can give them away but like... i feel like everyone has this problem they don't want my extra flowers. i also know they're... not real and will grow back. but my brain is like "FLORA KILLER"

That was my problem, the rain. I would get rain for like a week straight. I didn't even TT.

I usually just dig them all up myself which takes forever and then sell the ones I don't want to keep. I try to do it in chunks though and stagger it out since terraforming is pretty monotonous too. It's one of my biggest pet peeves that we can't just pick the flowers up whole like in NL.

You can also dig them up and move them to the beach and they won't crossbreed or grow any further if you aren't sure if you want to sell them yet. I'm not 100% comfortable with people coming over to my island to dig either so I understand how you feel.

Bring a trash bin, diy bench, and customization packs with you as you dig them up.

Place the crafting table and the bin near you and bring them with you as you move. Also customize the shovel every round to keep it from breaking. Helps save time.

I actually plan on moving all my flowers to the beach until I finish terraforming. But that would give less space for manila clams to spawn.

I feel that so much. Agree with what other posters have said, bringing a trash bin really helps with removing those pesky flowers. Don't feel like you have to keep any if they're in your way. The way I see it, it's super easy to get more and super hard to keep shuffling unwanted ones around.

This applies to all tools except flimsy, golden tools and axes. Customizing resets their usage counter.

i wouldn't totally mind it, because i like to relax by playing AC and listen to a podcast. but then i think of logistics because i can't just do something chaotically i'd need like, a spreadsheet.

Yes omg, I have flowers all over the place. My terraforming is done now but this means my beach, which is where I moved them, is just flowers, I dont get any Manila clams because theres just too many. And they're mostly hybrids so I dont want to sell them just yet

I also second using a trash bin. Flowers don’t sell for much so it is tedious running them to Nooks Cranny. Just throw them away and keep the bin near you!

I started using a trash can which has helped a lot. I have WAY, WAY too many flowers and have been cleaning up off and on but it seems like I never make a dent. It makes me feel discouraged because I feel like I will never be able to terraform or make my town look how I want it to. It is a huge pain to move them all too and my beaches are pretty full already but I still have more to move. I love flowers though but man, if my island can just chill on spawning more for a bit that would be nice.

It's better to just buy a few shovels than wasting hardwood. I sell base colors and put all hybrids on the beach so they don't spread further. I'll dig them back up and use them to design as I go along decorating my island. Any leftovers are getting sold to the Nooklings or being giveaway online in a mix bag. Seems like throwing away is faster than running to Nook's Cranny by what everyone else is saying, I'll try doing that too from now on.

I made the mistake of taking every free flower I could get my hands on in the beginning and now there's barely any empty space on the first level of my island. Regular/hybrid flowers are flooding my grass and my beaches. I have nowhere to decorate really because I'm overrun with them. Removing flowers is so tedious in this game that I just haven't bothered to do anything. The more I wait the more the flowers breed, so it just gets worse and more overwhelming. I keep telling myself that one day I'll spend a couple hours getting them under control, but I don't even know where to put them when that happens...

I vote for them to give Leif a Magic Wand to help remove unwanted Flowers and Weeds for a fee lol.
