does anyone else have a liiiiiittle bit of a flower problem? it's nice that the flowers don't die even when unwatered and you can run over them without destroying them and all, but they take over the first chance they get i've picked the game back up recently after not playing for a while and i had 1750 flowers in total scattered around my island when i counted they took nine shovels and several hours to organize and clean up. anyone else wish flowers were a little less unkillable and a little more manageable?

I have that issue too, have to place patterns all round my gardens to keep flowers from spreading.

same here - by the time I finally unlocked terraforming in the game and was ready to plan out my island the orange windflowers had taken over the entire third level cliffs and I had to dedicate at least an hour to clearing them out before I could do anything. Now I put blank patterns around all of my flower beds to make sure they don't get out of control

It only takes a few rainy days to send flowers out of control.

I do a circuit of my island every morning for branches, weeds, etc., and make sure to check closely for any new spawns the day after it's rained.

oof i feel this. i genuinely have flowers over almost every inch of my island and i don’t even know where to start with trying to get rid of them lmao - plus, i’m hella lazy so uh,, my island’s probably just gonna be a huge ass garden for some more months until i get around to tackling them c’:

This thread speaks to me on a molecular level. I've let my flowers get so out of hand, I basically got all the hybrids except the blue rose simply by letting them do what they do. Now, any time I want to add a new area to my island, I have to undergo some sever culling of flowers, and it's always hard trying to decide whether to cast away or save for future use.

I have a few flower fields that have become unruly, I dealt with one this week so I could do some landscaping to prepare for some villager move abouts. I sold everything that wasn't a hybrid colour and I'll probably start selling orange flowers soon as they are getting out of hand. Work in progress, like everything else.

I totally understand you, I also wish they wouldn't be completely immortal or at least better manageable, as they can quickly becoming a huge issue for your island if you lost the control over them. I used to had two big fields with a bunch of roses and windflowers, which I made in hope to get any hybrids (in particular blue roses and purple windflowers). Within a short time, they took over almost my whole island, whenever I wanted to terraform or decorating an area, I had to clean up first tons of flowers to even do anything. After a while, I got rid off everything, simply because it became too much and it was also just too annoying for me to waste so much time (and shovels) to clean them up. Now I have a small flied of roses where I placed blank patterns around it as a "flower blocker" and even if the field is now much smaller as the old one I had, they still spreading so fast and taking over every bit which isn't blocked by the pattern (at least it's much less to clean up for me now then back then).

yes i have SOOOO many flowers, used to have even more but i had to do something about it because they were becoming a problem. i decided to sell all non hybrids i wasn't using to nooks, gave away 100 hybrid pansies i had no use for on discord and stopped breeding. now it's more under control but i still have a full stop on breeding unless i have a plan for the flowers i'm breeding, lol

yeah as I played the game I let them do as they pleased. Finally I had a plan for my island and had to wrestle it back from them, took me 3 days to clear them all out and my back cliffs are still a wild area where more run rampant

I had this issue when wanting to sort my island out, I basically put what little I wanted to keep on the beach, making sure I kept at least one of each flower type both normal and hybrid, then anything on the grass was sold off. My island star rating is way down, but at least I know I'm in control while redecorating.

I have hedged gardens on my ground level to keep them mostly in check. The upper levels are just wild though.

Getting rid of extra flowers used to be part of my routine, gotta keep them under control! It seems that putting down patterns can help limit them from spawning, though i havent tried.

Yeah! I really miss flower wilting and think they should bring it back with ordinances. They could easily expand resident services into a real town hall and promote Isabelle to a proper mayor (that takes all of your suggestions into account anyway).

I am just starting to breed my flowers again for the third time. I cleared them out twice while terraforming and organizing. I deal with them by using fencing and/or stone/brick/terracotta paths since flowers and weeds dont grow on those. I am letting my third tier run wild.

yea i wish you could at least kill flowers by running over them. i'm tired of using so many materials just for shovels whenever i end up moving & selling flowers. i think that maybe, if you run over a flower and it loses its petals, you should be able to run over its stems and kill off those after a few run throughs as well.

in previous saves, i'd always try to start flower breeding asap because i've heard so many stories about how hard it is to get some flowers, but man. that may have been a problem in acnl but it doesn't really seem to be the case with acnh. with my newest save, i'm not going to start flower breeding until i've got my basic layout planned. so far, i've tried to buy 5 bags of each basic color for each flower species. i plant them, let them grow, then transport them to the beach to prevent them from growing. it's a bit unfortunate i can't really run across my beach or decorate it yet, but sometimes sacrifices have to be made.

I have a huge flower problem too. I‘m not sure how many I have, but I’ve given away hundreds of flowers and almost every inch of my island is still covered in them. I’m trying to get some empty spots with just grass for winter so I’ll have space to make snowboys

I recently corralled most of my flowers into a desert/garden area, where spreading is limited. The only flowers that truly can grow wild are green mums (they look like weeds). I do want my new orange lilies to spread in my deer pen, though.

I made sure early on my flowers didn't explode everywhere. I have the colors I want on my beaches or shoved on my peninsula for the time being.
